There is still mostly nothing to see here.  But there WILL be as the cops go through all the devices...
This is a podcast (10:17 long, autostarts) of the Toronto Police Chief with Matt Galloway on the Metro Morning CBC radio show

Decent headline until the last. Crack.  I find that headline cliche shallow and pedantic.  No need to repeat the last key word imo, it's a bit glib in a Mitch Albom style.  See below.  This was when I stopped reading him, because "Chelifish" didn't need to be repeated

Damn-near every Toronto city councillor & several provincial MPPs have been hinting for weeks that Blob Ford should take a little vacation & get his sh*t together
- and yet he evasively claims he has nothing to hide while fleeing out the back-door of city hall.
The kicker of all of this is he can't be removed from office even if (or when) a video surfaces of him honkin' on a bong.
Toronto's only hope is that he gets too fat to squeeze into the mayor's office (which seems to be three orders of jerk-chicken-poutine away).

Is he too gay to function?

Say crack again.

I have to see, I really, really DON'T want to see Rob Ford's crack. I mean, ew.

Given that Ford can't get any of his ludicrous Casino-wanting, Ferris wheel-proposing, monorail-embracing agenda through now that he's managed to alienate almost every one of his former allies on council, I just see his mayoralty as an excellent piece of performance art. Still taking bets on whether he ultimately leaves city hall under his own power, in a cop car, in an ambulance, or in a hearse.

He won't leave until a bacon cheeseburger hoagie lodges itself in his left ventricle.  Even then he'll deny the hoagie exists.  No, the only way we'll get Ford out of his mayoral seat is with a marine winch.

I'll put $100 on "in the back of a police van"

Blair was way to evasive for this to not involve Ford. His non-denial denial speaks volumes.

I imagine that Ford is quietly crapping himself, wondering what the police found and wondering what was said in those wiretaps.

Ford has maintained no such video exists and that he does not use crack cocaine.

There's an easy way to clear this all up.  Pass a drug test.

Seriously.  Galloway's interview was great:

"You could have easily exonerated Ford.  Why not?"

Big three second pause

"I'm unable to answer your question without violating the terms of the law."

That was some damning stuff.

We were all wondering why his hair was cut so short when he gave his non-denial.  But still, as much as I want him to get busted red-handed, if he somehow passed the drug test, you just know he'd be the smuggest bastard on the planet, even if he had done crack while in office in the past.

Daniel Dale's unanswered question was the easiest to answer.  "Have you done any illegal drugs since you've been in office?"

NO ANSWER

A drug test will show nothing unless he smoked crack in the last few days.

Most hard drugs have water-soluble metabolites (cocaine, meth, heroin) that are expelled in your urine typically within 2-3 days of use.

Pot has fat-soluble metabolites that are only expelled in your urine after the fat cells containing them have been metabolized which is why it's more like a month for them (depending on your metabolism).

Wow, I missed that interview. If someone is not involved in an investigation, can the police outright state that? Or could that compromise the case? Any internet lawyers want to weight in on that?

Yeah, "delicate" is a great way to describe it.  Given how long the investigation has apparently been going on, I'm guessing they caught something big on the wiretaps - maybe they got him on tape buying drugs.

Not really.

Crack leaves the system in a few days after use, maybe a week if you're a heavy user. I think this factoid is the reason why he laid low and didn't issue a statement for a week.

This story has been going on for weeks, even this dumbass knows to lay off for now.

Granted, a hair test could be done. They'll probably take one of his armpit hairs because he cut his hair short. (Unless he's shaved everything).

I think the story was that he'd go over to the house, (see the group shot above, it was taken on the driveway) and someone there would do the buying. So he's probably on the wiretaps with something like "I'm coming over", but without enough to actually incriminate himself...

At the very least this all rebuts the mayor's "I take pictures with lots of people and I don't know all of them" evasion.  It seems clearer all the time that he did indeed know these crack dealers and had some sort of relationship with them.  Of course, this leads to the question of what kind of "relationship" does a person have with crack dealers aside from the obvious customer/supplier relationship?  On the same bowling team?  Fishing buddies?  Old family friends from Rob Ford's days in Somalia?

Sadly, imho there are 50 more layers of teflon-coated armour in Rob Ford's suit closet.  The man is like the freakin' energizer bunny.  He just won't go down.

Not really, he simply can't be removed from office and refuses to quit. That's not really teflon, it's just shameless arrogant entitlement. If Doug has brains I haven't seen it. The man is a blabbering loose cannon and a bully.

A couple of the things could have had him out, (the conflict of interest thing, or the fund raising, AIR) or at least triggered an election...
I never said Doug was smart, merely that he got the lion's share between them.

/on the other hand I'm always amused by people who go to the trouble of posting on a thread to talk about how much they don't care about the topic of the thread. It's very cute.
