We've gone from "it's perfectly fine to spend half your presidency on vacation" to "NO VACATIONS AT ALL!".  I wonder what changed?

Oh, sure, play that card! You know, the lamestream media never gave Bush credit for the days on his watch when 3,000+ Americans weren't killed in a domestic terror attack!

I always pictured one of those wire barrel cages, like they use for bingo or the lottery.  Orange boy gets to turn the crank at the end once a week and they draw a new outrage ball.

I don't expect Obama to travel in the lowest class, but in these economic times, he shouldn't travel first class, either.

Isn't there some sort of middle passage to Africa?

I completely agree. I understand costs of security details etc. but the president traveling first class is an unwarranted luxury in these times. He and his family should sit back in coach during those trips to save money.

When i see articles like this i am reminded by the end of the movie "Hollywood Shuffle" where Robert Townsend was playing  a black Superman, and a police helicopter follows him and says  "get back to work!"

Comparing him to Bush is not fair. GWB was not in charge of making any decisions he was just a puppet that Cheney and  the GOP machine manipulated to push their agenda.

skozlaw: IrateShadow: Why are conservatives wasting their time on this petty shiat?

You mean as opposed to the not-at-all petty "scandal" over the attack in Benghazi? As opposed to all the prior presidents who totally didn't have any such things happen during their... oh, wait.

Or maybe you mean PRISM, the product of the bipartisan domestic spying program that was started in 2001, has been publicly debated numerous times and reauthorized by both democrats and republicans in Congress who saw no backlash from the public?

Maybe you mean the IRS "scandal" where the IRS singled out a bunch of political groups for scrutiny over their political activities when they applied for a tax-exempt status that disallowed political activity?

Truly outrageous. History's greatest monster.

Even reading that summary makes me feel exhausted.

OHDUDENESS: Why this obsession with always stating his color of skin?

I dunno, maybe it started when the American Right Wing launched an assault on Obama's credibility by accusing him of being a foreign-born socialist Muslim with a forged birth certificate, a belief still espoused by many Republicans to this day, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Might have something to do with it.

OHDUDENESS: Why this obsession with always stating his color of skin? It makes any argument you have that whatever he's doing is right seem weak., like if I disagree then I must be racist. That card is way old and overplayed.

I know, it's not like the majority of his most vocal opponents have used racist terms and implications to fire up the most vocal and vehement of the anti-Obama base, those who are most often racist.

And if they did, it's because they, too, share in that vitriolic hatred for non-whites, and in no means are disingenuously rankling them to make sure those people always get out and vote against that Kenyan, socialist, fascist, tyrannical, anti-colonialist who's just a little bit uppity.

Benghazi - Not an actual scandal
Umbrellagate - Um, no.
IRS - No WH involvement, IRS head resigned, moving along...
NSA - Congress allowed it, court approvals now instead of before

The bar for actual scandals has not reached much higher than that one time Obama used some binder clips to collate his documents.

My only complaint with it is not that it's necessarily inaccurate most of the time, but that it ignores the only other major point of opposition that explains the insane meltdown conservatives have had over him: he's a democrat.

There's really only three reasons conservatives are so perpetually outraged about every breath the man has drawn since January 20th, 2009:

1. He's a democrat
2. He's black
3. He's a black democrat

I mean, I'm not going to say there aren't things he does with which I seriously disagree or that I think he's been a truly standout president, but I have a hard time reconciling the reality of his presidency with the insane level of rage directed at him by conservatives over what they imagine has been his presidency without including the latent and overt racism that deeply infects their ideology.

No, racism isn't the ONLY reason conservatives have become so rabidly insane over him, and not all conservatives are so completely nuts about him because they're racist (many are simply opportunistic shiatheels who are mad their party isn't in power) but it's a BIG PART of it for MANY conservatives.

What I've learned from republicans is that you don't have to be racist to disagree with Obama.

But it helps.

I have to seriously wonder if presidential security hasn't become one of those things where we could get 99% security for, say, $5 million and then every .1% after that costs another $5 million....

I mean... I'm cool with Obama as president, but odds man.... odds....
