The A's did their damndest to lose that game... they really did. The current Yankee lineup is a farking disaster; the only bright side is that there were actually men on base to leave stranded, as opposed to their usual MO these days of leaving them empty, maybe with a guy on first.

Ugh.

It only took the Red Sox 13, so there.

I think that's what bothered me the most with the game. I don't quite understand why Claiborne was pulled when he was.

Yesterday, Tiexiera, Hafner, Wells and Youkilis were a combined 0-for-28 with 3 Ks each.

Has there ever been as many extra inning games in the span of two weeks in the past? There sure were a lot of long games lately.

The Orioles had them beat on that.  16 LOB vs the Yankees 14 LOB

It couldn't have been very comforting to Mets or Yankees fans that immediately after sweeping the Yankees, the Mets got swept by the Marlins

Slight OT, but in the great land of Farkistan, which of the following NY area owners do you think is the worst:

Fred Wilpon
Charles Wang
Charles Dolan
Woody Johnson
Ralph Wilson
Terrence Pegula

I wouldn't call Buffalo "NY area". It's closer to Tornoto than NYC.

Stiff competition between Dolan, Woody and Wilpon. What's wrong with Wang?

I don't get that and i dont know who said it, probably because I don't live there. I was just super psyched we did something that didn't involve a two player trade where one was a reliever. The starting pitchers are absolutely horrible. Otherwise we'd be at least at 500, my only goal I'm hoping for by the end of July.

Wilpon's the least likeable, in my opinion.  I think Dolan's the worst as far as who you want to never have involved with your team.  Apparently a few years ago, David Stern had to keep Dolan from rehiring Isiah Thomas.

I can't believe Jesse Chavez.  Last year I thought he was one of the worst pitchers I had ever seen, both stuff-wise and pitching ability.  I couldn't even comprehend how he made a little league roster, much less a major league one.  Now he's pitching like a guy who could/should be an 8th inning fireman.  I guess that's why I'm not a scout or front office guy, but man, he's been impressive.  The turnaround from last year to this year is almost unthinkable.  Really gutsy performance from him, I was very impressed.

George Steinbrenner. I don't care if he's dead. He's still the worst.

Hahaha I was just talking about this last night. I have talked more shiat on this guy than anyone else on our roster. When I saw him warming up I thought we had just forfeited the game. Then he comes in and absolutely destroys the Yankees - something like 7 strikeouts in 5 innings? AWESOME.

The A's apparently have a magical ability to scout relief pitchers. They're adept at wringing serviceable seasons out of scrap-heap pitchers released by bad teams (see: Pat Neshek, Travis Blackley) and just pulling pitchers out of their ass from nowhere (converted first baseman and current setup man Sean Doolittle).

Still, yes, it is surprising to see 2012 dumpster fire Jesse Chavez turn into some sort of crazy relief pitching master. Mark Teixeira said that he was the toughest pitcher they faced that day, in a game where we emptied our gold-plated bullpen at them.

LOL, I literally left the house a minute before Six-Eight-Nate won the game to take my nephew to All-Star Little League practice. To kill time, I took my five-year-old niece to the playground. Man, they play rough there. I'm standing there watching my niece, and THWACK! some two-year-old Greinke'd me with a rock right behind the ear. I turned around and he's standing there with a shiat-eating grin. Not my kid, so it's not like I can charge the mound or anything, but I told him to go sit down.

So I go sit down and check for blood, and less than a minute later, I hear a scream, and it's my niece who got Greinke'd. Same place, right behind the ear. So now we have matching knots on our heads and she's bleeding. The little terrorist's mother comes over to see if we're OK, and says, "Oh my. He just got put into a time-out earlier today because he hit his father with a rock". I told her she'd better beat his ass, or I was gonna do it. Little psychopath.

Then we came home and found out the A's won, and me and my niece gave each other a bash, and all was well. True story.

Buffalo is in freaking NY. He said "NY area", not "NYC area".

Also, I found this mildly interesting: Each team used seven pitchers and threw 255 pitches. With a pitch count so high, the odds that they used the same amount must be low.

When someone says "NY area" one tends to assume NYC. No one ever says "California area".

When the 4-5-6-7 guys in the lineup go 0-for-28, it's probably not your day.

Awesome story. But if he Greinke'd* his dad with a rock earlier that day and could still walk without holding his butt cheeks, you know his mom isn't going to whoop his ass either.

The best part of this story is how it has literally nothing to do with the A's or Jesse Chavez in particular. But I do hate kids so I kinda wish it had ended with you tossing that little shiatstain into a volcano or something.

Yeah, I couldn't have gotten more off-topic (off-er topic?) if I tried, but I had to share this story with someone. Oh, and the lil' rockchucker did get his posterior tenderized and a time-out. He'll probably do it again (he is a boy after all), but if he can stay out of jail, he's got a career as either a headhunter or a closer in his future.
