You'd turn it off when I was halfway across: Seems rather presumptuous to claim pink kryptonite turns him gay.

For all we know it merely changed Superman's gender identity but not her orientation.

So, so the wrong thread.

Funny because this is the only other tab I have open right now.  Beer and Superman being topics of interest for me as well.

I call this recipe "a beer"

2 cold bottles of IPA
1 frozen 28oz mug (kept clean and in freezer)

Open bottles and slowly pour into mug.  Sit on easy chair and put feet up and enjoy.

Pink Kryptonite Cocktail*

1 Pint Hefeweizen
1/4 Cup Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
1 Maraschino Cherry

*not guaranteed to turn you gay, or encourage you to gender-bend, but it's worth a shot

The great thing about beer is that it's meant to be drunk on its own. You don't mix crap into it.

You might on to something.  Open a DC comics themed bar and have all the cocktails names after Kryptonite colours.  The appetizers would be Batman stuff.  etc... etc...

Generally I agree but once you've had Guinness with Strongbow Cider or Guinness with Newcastle Brown Ale, you might change your mind.

If your black and tan arrives with the beers mixed, it was poured improperly and should be sent back.

Fer feck sake

"The "black" part is a stout (usually Guinness) and the "tan" part is a pale ale (usually Harp lager). "

Harp lager is not a Pale Ale. Its a crappy Oirish sex-in-a-canoe rip-off that is only on sale in the US and no Irishman would even let his dog drink it.

Ok, I thought the Black and Tan was traditionally Guiness and Bass, I thought I even saw that on Guiness' website. Also isn't a Black Velvet Guiness and Hard Cider? That is always how I've seen bars prepare it. This list sucks without the Irish Car Bomb!

Also where is the Black and Blue, I know it as Guinness and Blue Moon

Guinness with an ale, ideally Newcastle Brown Ale (not a lager).  With a lager it is simply a half and half.

Also, I'm pretty sure the more traditional name for a Guinness and Strongbow cider is a Crown Float.

A few years back I was in London and ordered a black and tan at three or four different bars and pubs. Nobody knew WTF I was talking about. Is it an American thing?

You'd turn it off when I was halfway across: swaxhog: Around here a Black Velvet is Guinness and cider and I enjoy them.  Guess cider is the poor mans version of champagne.

Surely that's just a Guiness Snakebite?

Guy I used to drink with drank what he called Snake Bites - a Black & Tan made with King Cobra malt liquor and Guinness

Spanky_McFarksalot: except for the black and tan, if you drink any of those you deserve multiple groin punches.

2.5 oz of Weiss beer in a martini glass, lemon twist.

Are you saying your black and tan isn't really a black and tan unless you pour it yourself? I see where youre coming from, but fail to see the problem with a competent bartender being able to hit a decent black and tan, unless youre really scrupulous about mixing the drink yourself to your exact preference. Historically, a "Black and Tan is a drink made from a blend of pale ale and a dark beer such as a stout or porter." I certainly dont mind the extra hop character of an IPA vs. a traditional pale though in a standard black and tan.

/All in all, Id much rather take a champion example of a single style than anything. Give me some Big Bear Black and some Cali-Belgique, separately...

I'm saying the beers should be layered, not mixed.
