tigerose: *thread jack* I need opinions..while on vacation my Mom wants to go to a family reunion. It is a 6 hr. drive...which I did not know. Plus we cannot leave her cat for too long. Mackinaw city, MI to Appleton WI...so, we could drive like maniacs the day of, them stay overnight and leave to return at the crack of dawn..or, we could drive dwn to luddington, take the Ferry-4 hrs!- then finish the trip...I just don't know if I want to travel that far for a 4 hr. picnic!
*end thread jack*

Joking answer: drive faster (I have no idea what traffic is like where you are, but 6 hours for a 284 mile drive seems a bit much, says the person who made it from Key West to NW NJ {1400+ miles} in less than 16 hours. And no, I did not get a ticket).

i415.photobucket.com i415.photobucket.com

Serious answer: do you like these people? Do you want to see them? Is it the last chance to see a relative who may not make it much longer? Is it worth the trip? Only you can decide what is best.

lilyspad: John Buck 41: lilyspad: Take lots of pictures!! :D

Yeah, about that. In the rush to get beer, smokes, cheese for burgers, chips, a change of clothes for Mrs. Buck (she was called into work but came down later) and 2 dogs in the car guess what I forgot?  :(

Ah....too bad! Make it a point to go back soon!!!

Oh, I can do that easy enough. But getting us all together at the same time is the trick. Unfortunately work beckons tomorrow morning, I don't know when my sisters are heading home, and my daughter has transportation issues (as well as job responsibilities). I'm sure we can manage to do it again at some point this summer. Just gonna take a little tweaking of logistics/schedules.

I was running yesterday and passed a guy with his cocker spaniel, and he told me I should take his dog with me for a run. He was trying to get the dog to lose some weight, and since I'm once again unemployed, I was all, hmmm..... But when I checked craigslist, there were a lot of dog walkers/house sitters already in business. Ah well.

Also, did MaudlinMutantMollusk's Puki ever come home last week?

Before you go to bed, take a bath. Fill an old nylon stocking toe with about 1/2 cup of oatmeal and tie shut with room to allow the oatmeal to double. Soak it and squeeze the milky water over the sunburned parts. When most of the oatmeal has dissolved and your bath water is pretty opaque, slide down and soak some more. Oatmeal is soothing, will cool the burn, and will help the burned skin retain moisture.

A big bird just flew into my front window. The whole window shook and I thought it would break. The bird slid down the window like a cartoon. I ran out the door to check on her. She was a bit shook up but fine. There was a nice tasty beetle on the window, I think she just miss judged the distance. This is the bird:

B'lieve it was written by the late Bruce Newhall in HMS Bounty (the original, not 2d Opinion) that "the sun's always over the yardarm somewhere!"  if he didn't, he shoulda.  Big tribute in both Delta Kings shows, as Bruce was the Delta Kings' poet laureate.   Wrote 20 show scripts for them & 4-5 others for other groups, since 1979.  This yr's, A Very Civil War, was a re-adapt of the original Singatoon Island, not included in the 20 (dunno why not).

Thanks for the advise on the burn. Have you ever tried to put lotion on your back all by yourself? I saw a commercial one time of a guy putting lotion on a sliding door glass and then rubbing it on his back..that is about what I would have to do at this point. But thanks! :D

Charlie & Zuma were 4 1/2 months old when we adopted them and they had been at the Humane Society since they were 10 weeks old.  They were both pretty scared of everything at first.  I couldn't find them the first morning and finally found them behind the dryer.  Poor sweeties.  I had to block off everywhere they could possibly hide that I didn't want them to go to for the first month or so.

They are what - 3 weeks old? From what I know, that is a little too young to try to start solid foods when they have a lactating queen available. Unless the Mom is rejecting them? Good luck either way, they are adorable!
