Zeesh, I'm tired! Glad that Sherpa had the KiloKitty image ready! I wanted to posted some fun pics for everyone to enjoy after the Fathers' Day celebrations. I'm off to take hubby out for Wonderful Kitty Daddy Day lunch. I sent my Dad some new pics of the garden and flowers, and I'll call him when we get home to see if he got our gift in the mail.

Hope everyone makes some beautiful memories with their Dads today and relives the best ones, even if their Dads are gone.

RadicalEd: 4seasons85!: RadicalEd: 4seasons85!: I know this is late but I need some advice if possible. I am likely moving soon. Should I drive with two cats (it could take a week) or risk flying with them in the airplane cabin?

Most airlines only allow one pet per seat - so with two cats, they would probably make you buy two seats. Some you have to store the animals in the back, and some you can keep them under the seat in front of you if the carrier fits (so I would get a soft carrier, if they allow that). Either way, look up the airline regulations on pets first.

As for driving, I say go for it. Where are you driving from/to? I drove with two cats from Ohio to New Mexico, and then New Mexico to Oregon. I got a couple of disposable litter pans, gave them food and water when I stopped for gas/food/bathroom, but they were too miserable to do more than just sleep. My cats would cry for a bit and then be resigned to their fate for the rest of the journey. I stopped for the night in reserved hotel/motels that allowed pets, and that's where they would chow down and empty their bladders since there wasn't the stress of a moving vehicle. I strongly recommend keeping the cats in a carrier if they're not used to the car - my Ivan decided he was going to get out of the carrier during morning rush hour traffic outside Indianapolis AND stood on the window button making the window come down while going 50+ mph while I was trying to merge in said rush hour traffic. Needless to say, I had a heart attack and it still makes me ill to my stomach thinking about it!

I say drive if it's possible. My cats are so-so in the car, but I just imagine it's 100 times worse flying with mine. Plus, I was never able to get anything soothing down their throats, so no meds or tranqs.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of factors to consider with both options!

Thanks so much! You are right that there are pros and cons to both. I am considering driving more now. It is from Vegas to Juneau, AK. So as you can imag ...

Thanks again for the advice. Despite really wanting to go for the job, I may turn it down now that I have thought long and hard about moving there. There is far more involved than I initially thought. The risks of moving with my cats are very high for them. I would be going to a place that has a significant cost of living increase and I am just starting to build a savings after living paycheck to paycheck for a couple years. I would have to sell all my stuff or have it shipped for a lot of money. Then there is the fact that there is no family help for miles. So despite my love of the place and obsession with wanting to live in the wilderness, I do not think it is going to happen.

Truly ought not to say, but Certain Ethnic Groups are either unable or unwilling to Recycle. Bottles & cans are mixed in with flattened cardboard boxes & organic garbage.  Too messy & time consuming for us to try to fix, but dumpster's now too full to accept today's event refuse (wedding & reception)  meee-yow.
I've also prior contest vids to seek for chorus tomorrow, & attempts to print more music despite printer mis- & mal-functions.  Just getta bigger hammer, methinx.  whine whine whinge whinge, ought not to.

It's good to be back home!! Just spent the last 5 weeks in Michigan, taking care of my mom after her surgery. They live out in the middle of nowhere, and had a crappy computer, hardly any RAM, small HD, ect.. Forget trying to even load Caturday.  My husband came and picked me up 2 days ago, and brought them a new computer. Now they have a fast as lightening one, now that I am home. LOL  Anyway I have a lot of catching up to do, and lots of apology tuna to dish out to Wentworth. Don't have any recent pics of him, but I do have a pic of a turkey in my parents yard. All animals in Caturday, right?

*thread jack* I need opinions..while on vacation my Mom wants to go to a family reunion. It is a 6 hr. drive...which I did not know. Plus we cannot leave her cat for too long. Mackinaw city, MI to Appleton WI...so, we could drive like maniacs the day of, them stay overnight and leave to return at the crack of dawn..or, we could drive dwn to luddington, take the Ferry-4 hrs!- then finish the trip...I just don't know if I want to travel that far for a 4 hr. picnic!

Does her cat require medication or something that you can't leave her alone? Are there friends or neighbors you can ask to look in on kitty? If you decide to go, the ferry is really cool to take! I have taken both the Luddington to Manitowoc and the Lake Express.

We put a halter and leash on the cat that flew in the cabin. When it was taken out to have the carrier scanned, it was easier to control the cat and not worry about it running away.
Driving can be ok if you stop often. Use a large carrier where a small litter pan will fit, the disposable pans are nice for travelling. Keep the air temp in the car cool so the cat doesnt get overheated.Don't feed the cat too much if it tends to get car sick.

Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: akimbotoo: Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: Really late to the party this week.  Kittehs are now three weeks old, and becoming mobile, meaning our lives are only going to get more hectic.  All of them are doing fine and were brought out for the first time to meet the rest of the relatives.  No ferrets, but the rest of the cats were all Meh about it.  Anyway, have a great weekend everyone, and enjoy the antics of the Asian / Italian fusion mewbies.

And last but not least, Pu Pu Pasta.

They are so adorable!

Moo Shu is probably the most vocal out of all of them.  S-H-I-I-T-A-K-E is the loner who likes to just sit and watch.  Pu Pu is our little mobile kitteh, and the torti twins are still a little on the quiet side, and not as mobile as the rest of their brothers and sisters.  We've at least got them out of the bed now, so I'm happy about that.  Piggy, and Mo didn't really care too much about the babies, and Fatty Waffles was kept away because she's always violently fighting with Scampi.  We won't let them out near the ferrets, so they will not get to experience that, but we can't predict what would happen and don't want to take any chances on something happening.  Other than that, we're still waiting on the first clutch of baby beardies to hatch, and for the weather to do something besides try to drown us, or boil us alive.  Going to be a long summer I think.

Did you ever figure out if the torties were really females or not?
One of my friends found a calico kitten last week, brought it to the vet and found out it's a male. The vet said it was the 2nd male calico she's ever seen.
