lilyspad: Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: Really late to the party this week.  Kittehs are now three weeks old, and becoming mobile, meaning our lives are only going to get more hectic.  All of them are doing fine and were brought out for the first time to meet the rest of the relatives.  No ferrets, but the rest of the cats were all Meh about it.  Anyway, have a great weekend everyone, and enjoy the antics of the Asian / Italian fusion mewbies.

OMG!!  They are so cute!!!  SQUEE!!!! :D  Thanks for taking the time to share!

Never realized it was such a pain to get a halfway decent pic of a kitten.  Took about 30, and these were really the only ones that could be used.  Tomorrow we try them out with some kitten milk for the first time.  Have had two of the prospective parents come out and visit their soon to be adopted babies and things went very well.  Kind of surprised that Mo and Pirogi were mainly indifferent to the babies, but it might change here soon enough now that they are allowed out and about for a while each day.  Anyway, things are going well with everyone, and even the mother is commenting that the kitties are very cute.  Granted she doesn't want any to stay, but getting her to admit it is pretty surprising.

Well, I just got back from dropping off the feral kitty at the clinic.
They'll snip him, give him his shots, de-flea him, check for FIV and FEL, and treat him for ear mites.
I pick him back up Wednesday. By then he should have worked up a solid plan on how to kill me.

Jack has been limping since last night. I checked his hip and knee joints and nothing seemed to be out of place. This morning he would hardly put his foot down, so i did a thorough inspection of his foot. My big baby is limping and whining because he broke a nail. I do realize how painful that can be to a dog and I cleaned it up and will wait til tomorrow to see if he needs the vet.

Good morning! Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, whether your kids have 2 or 4 legs.

Yes, I should still be hiking/camping, but we called off the hike early due to pain. We pushed ourselves too hard on Friday - 15 miles is a long way to go with 34 (me) / 41 (hubby) pounds on your back while climbing the equivalent of 70 floors over the course of the 15 miles, especially when you're an out of shape, overweight, middle aged hiker!

I am so sorry for those who have lost loved ones, furry and non-furry.

I am very glad that Dijon is getting better and has a hooman slave of her very own!

That's so funny! (I think he likes you!) :D What did you name him???

I haven't named him. It seems kind of futile.
I call him "Kitty Kitty" as in "Here Kitty kitty kitty kitty".

I haven't seen him since the tree folks were here to cut up the fallen limbs & stuff.
I think the chainsaw freaked him out.

He'll be back. You should name him Kodachrome or Tri Pan or even Pixel. ;-)

Get to type, mayhap, at ft of pg 6.  Pl's chorus shows went well, he didn't get to sing himself (too much tech work needing done at last minute for matinee, then had to be at Lodge for wedding reception during eve show --bride was truly beautiful, many of attendants clad in variants of same green-cream-brown tropical fabric).

We gotta go finnish cleaning up from last eve's Lodge reception, tho renters did pretty good job of it before they left.  There's either another reception or actual wedding&reception today, starts ~Hah! Noon! so must needs Git A Move On.

4seasons85!: RadicalEd: 4seasons85!: I know this is late but I need some advice if possible. I am likely moving soon. Should I drive with two cats (it could take a week) or risk flying with them in the airplane cabin?

Most airlines only allow one pet per seat - so with two cats, they would probably make you buy two seats. Some you have to store the animals in the back, and some you can keep them under the seat in front of you if the carrier fits (so I would get a soft carrier, if they allow that). Either way, look up the airline regulations on pets first.

As for driving, I say go for it. Where are you driving from/to? I drove with two cats from Ohio to New Mexico, and then New Mexico to Oregon. I got a couple of disposable litter pans, gave them food and water when I stopped for gas/food/bathroom, but they were too miserable to do more than just sleep. My cats would cry for a bit and then be resigned to their fate for the rest of the journey. I stopped for the night in reserved hotel/motels that allowed pets, and that's where they would chow down and empty their bladders since there wasn't the stress of a moving vehicle. I strongly recommend keeping the cats in a carrier if they're not used to the car - my Ivan decided he was going to get out of the carrier during morning rush hour traffic outside Indianapolis AND stood on the window button making the window come down while going 50+ mph while I was trying to merge in said rush hour traffic. Needless to say, I had a heart attack and it still makes me ill to my stomach thinking about it!

I say drive if it's possible. My cats are so-so in the car, but I just imagine it's 100 times worse flying with mine. Plus, I was never able to get anything soothing down their throats, so no meds or tranqs.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of factors to consider with both options!

Thanks so much! You are right that there are pros and cons to both. I am considering driving more now. It is from Vegas to Juneau, AK. So as you can imagine it is ...

Planning your route is a big thing. Where will you stop for the night, what places take cats. Even down to where you might stop for gas - there were big stretches of nothing heading north, and it'll just get worse once you pass Washington, I'm sure! I tried to get as much driving done as I could in one day, but my trips were only 2 days. Just know that they might be miserable during the day, but they usually get a bit more settled in the evening when you've stopped.

You know, he just might appreciate being cared for... Fred did....  maybe you can set up some kind of living quarters outside for him... shelter from the weather, etc... he does have some trust in you.. when you bring him back, have some noms there for him as an apology for trapping him... best for both of you.... it would be better to bring him inside, but circumstances won't allow that, as I can't bring Fred in either...  you would get hollered at, I would face a war :o).....  there are options that are acceptable to all....   we all know that you will do the right thing..  just make sure that he,s upwind if you partake of hushpuppies... otherwise, he may try to cover you up... it would take him a while to dig a hole that big !
