Coelacanth: Sugarbear Update:
I just got the call from Mountain Vista Animal Hospital to bring my cat in tomorrow morning for his surgery! Several people made some substantial donations (and many more made a ton of little ones) towards his vet bills. Hopefully the cancer hasn't spread and Sugarbear will live the rest of his life as a couch potato tripod.
Thank you Farkers!

Coming in late to the thread, so someone may have already posted something similar to this.  As far as I'm concerned, there is no "trait" to look for.  Look at the cat, and let the cat look at you.  If there is a connection, and there is love, then that is the best trait you can hope for!  If you give the best you can to the cat, you will get the same back.  There are never any guarantees with anything.  Good luck!!!!

Oh I definitely get that.  I've sadly had a cat I took in as a stray that succumbed to feline leukemia in less than a year.  I've had two hit by cars as well many years ago.  Well three actually, but one survived after some surgery and a pin in his leg.  I know there's no guarantee, but I was just wondering if certain breeds on average live longer than others.  I'm also not at all opposed to an adult cat, though I've raised kittens before as well.  There is a local no kill animal shelter that I'll probably be looking at.  For a modest rehoming fee they come already spayed/neutered and with their shots up to date, and they require you to have the vet check for worms and such but that's very reasonably priced as well.

That is super lolsome!  Do you have a larger version of it somewhere?

Buddy looks like he's fearlessly laughing at the dalek.  "Haha!  One hand is a toilet plunger and one is an egg beater!  Hope he remembers which is which...."  (Sorry Juno, not much rescue help there!)

Suzy will undoubtedly save Juno.  That dalek doesn't stand a chance -- it's covered in little blue balls!

I haz a sad.
I really think Bruce has crossed the Bridge.
When I left the house 6/3 Bruce was not acting right,
He was keeping to himself, and just lying in the grass by the tree line.
I left him with my husband to help give my husband a reason to carry on, and because
I felt Bruce would be happier in his own territory.
He was born under a shed near the house, and had come to me from the woods one day.
He just claimed the house as his, but only for food and shelter. He did not use a litter box.
The woods were his litter box, thank you. end of discussion.
When I left I did call my mobile vet to go out to check on Bruce. He did treat him symptomatically, gave him a shot of antibiotics and steroids and showed my husband how to do sub-Q fluids.
But my husband let Bruce go out the next day, and after taking his spot at the tree line for a while he just disappeared. He hasn't been seen again.
I am sad, but I really feel Bruce would have been miserable living indoors, or in a strange land.
Now, my gut tells me has gone to become a forever part of the land he loved. He will become one with the woods, ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
/sorry for the wall of words...I have to vent this pain somewhere.

I am so sorry honey. You did the right thing. Leaving Bruce in his territory was very kind. Perhaps he simply faded into the wood, because he could not bear to say goodbye. Only Fare thee Well, with a flick of the tail, a glance over the shoulder, and into the forest he fades.

Good Meowning Good Folk!

FangQ all for good pix & lines overnight, too numerous to cite.   This the double-kitteh stamp for Messages 2 Other Members within Care2Causes, way  too wee to catption. Embiggened a bit, which does wreck focus.
Best wishes to Sugarbear & Coelacanth for the imminent surgery.  Mtn View sent me a receipt for my trifle which they needed not. $.46 more that coulda gone to the project fund.  Worked long enough for non-profits that I count/squeeze every cent until they all  cry for mercy.
Also good on sherpa18's who I never spell out entirely 100th greenlight here. Conga-cats!!!  May be able to do something, trifle belately, for garlic wings Dragon so furrvently desires.  Esp if they come in Light (fooey!) & if a nearby place can be found to deliver.
Peanuts  strip doing the camp rerun, with Linus fearing to be bit by Queen Snake (sorry BBBB).
Also an excellent witty interview with Jeremy Dubin playing Sherlock Holmes, of Noshiatsherlock Inst fame, in Cinti Shakespeare Th's Hound of the Baskervilles which we saw last year.  Pl & I are both Sherlockians as well as everything else we do, just not as active as once.  Line about being everywhere doing everything, all simultaneously.
Was actually up shortly after 8AM EDT but needed to feed Our Owners & dose Ginger, then feed self.
Type at ft of pg 4. not seen any of 5 yet.

That's so funny! (I think he likes you!) :D What did you name him???

I haven't named him. It seems kind of futile.
I call him "Kitty Kitty" as in "Here Kitty kitty kitty kitty".

I haven't seen him since the tree folks were here to cut up the fallen limbs & stuff.
I think the chainsaw freaked him out.

He'll be back. You should name him Kodachrome or Tri Pan or even Pixel. ;-)

We lost Mitzi Katz (Miss Kitty to her friends) last week, kidney disease. It
was heartbreaking. We buried her next to her Otto, and I think they are together.
