At this point, he'd best better quote George Jones when he dressed up as the Terminator in a music video.

I don't think there's any way he could play a Terminator. He must be playing the human who the machine was based on.  I know there was a deleted scene with him as some soldier they based the machine on so maybe he can be that guy, but they'd have to drop the accent.

There kinda wasn't.  There was hardly even a third.

FTA: The action star will also be reprising his role as Conan the Barbarian in King Conan, which has been described as a direct sequel to his 1982 film that ignores more recent takes on the hero.

So they're ignoring The Destroyer? Cool. The first Conan was awesome.

Which one? In the deleted scene he had a fake Texas drawl.

I was OK with that one until the end when the terminator bats John Connor around like a cat with a toy instead of just snapping his neck.

The funny thing is, that picture was taken BEFORE he re-appeared in Terminator 3.  Word has it that he trained himself back into shape and regained pretty much the same physique that he had in Terminator 2.

So he's done it before.  He probably could do it again, if he wanted to.

Sure he could play a Terminator. The T-800s or whichever one he was in the first one was a unit built for infiltration. What's less inconspicuous than an aging, flabby Austrian?
/John Connor will never see it coming!

I don't think we need any more Terminator movies. The storyline has gotten so convoluted no one knows what's going on anymore. Isn't John Connor dead or a robot now? I lost interest by the end.

If they can keep it out of the hands of those who would want to make it "edgier" or "grittier" or "whatever-ier"? Should be an easy win.

The Christian Bale rant was the most memorable thing about that movie.

I would have been satisfied with it ending with T2, maybe they prevented Judgement Day but if they insist on doing more, I'd like to see it all end with Reese and the Terminator being sent back while SkyNet is crumbling around them.

And they can CGI Arnold.

That's the one. No way could he do the whole movie with that accent. But he could be that character, the soldier involved in the project that has to fight machines that look like him but younger.

Weirdly that reminded me of Surrogates, a Bruce Willis movie where everyone had a robot doppleganger that lived your life while you sat at home hooked up the the machine. They looked like you but younger.

Here's my proposed plot for Terminator 5: someone goes back in time and murders the persons responsible for writing the Terminator 3 and 4 scripts. Bonus points if that person is Robert Patrick.

Terminator 5, where the robots do it the right way this time and kill Sara Connor when she is just a child.

Word has it?  Since the Terminator is always naked at the beginning it was pretty self-evident.  Anyway, that was 10 years ago.  No one's going to question Arnold Schwarzenegger's bodybuilding discipline but if he can still get his body in that shape at his age now, he earns his paycheck just for standing in front of the camera to prove it.

At least that was the plan.
Until they found out how badass Grandma Conner can be when backed into a corner.

They can have John go back himself to warn her and accidentally end up impregnating his own grandmother with what will become his mother.

And then they can go to the aquarium and put Schwarzenegger on water skis and have him jump over carnivorous fish.

/It'll take place in the 30's

If they have to make another Terminator movie, better to make it with old Arnold than without any Arnold at all.

Terminator 4 was so bad it makes 3 look good.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles had an episode set in the Thirties and it was really cool.

What do you mean alternate universe?  T3/T4 and what we know as reality are the alternate universes.  T1, T2, TSCC are what actually happened.

I actually liked the third one to a point although in 2 you had the T-1000 with Robert Patrick, pretty Bagdad terminator. But you have the third one movie with the T-X but no morphing? Sure being able to manipulate anything electronic is pretty neat, but that whole morphing effect from 2 was awesome.

I didn't think 3 or even 4 were that bad, as mindless action movies. The first one is still my favorite, though. It's a wholly self contained stable time loop. The others just muddy the waters and fall victim to time travel tropes that don't make much sense... Predestination paradoxes and more.

The Terminator series is ripe for a reboot really, we can get rid of the scumbag little kids on a motorcycle and all that period crap, plus punch up the CGI while we're there.

Only works if they decide to break canon even more than they already have. Reese mentions in the first movie that there were few records from before the war, so Skynet basically chose a time when it knew whereabouts Sarah Connor lived and then work from there. Reese was able to find her immediately because John Conner just told him.

Based on that, I don't think Skynet could have found Sarah as a child to kill her.

2013-06-14 03:33:03 AM
I didn't even think Terminator 2 was very good.  The original had a good, self contained story with no paradox.  I didn't bother with T3 or later.. save for the Sarah Connor Chronicles pilot episode.
