Just starting?

He's been a well known good guy since his Baylor days.

And he's got game.

He's probably at the local Boston Market.

Alternate comment; apologies for double post.

FTA: Something that may have gone unnoticed - against all odds - about RGIII at Pierre Garcon's All White Charity Event, was his explanation of why he doesn't frequent the bar/club scene of Washington, D.C., like so many other Redskins seem to do.

Never mind; too obvious. I'll let Stephen A. Smith handle this one.

Well good for him. The DC club scene sucks.

2013-06-13 06:45:14 PM
Oh good!  Now somebody on ESPN can say he's not a real n****r again!

I think it's obvious he's holding out for the Dismemberment Plan reunion.

I am glad to see this and wish more athletes would make an effort not to squander their gifts and accomplishments on the alter of keeping it real and supporting their hangers on. Staying away from the club scene decreases the chances that he will get caught up in something that drags him down.  He has a fiance at home, a job that many men would kill for, the resources to live comfortably for the rest of his life if he sets things up right.  Why does he need to go to the club scene anyway? To try and prove that he is black and with it?

Aside from explaining away why he's not more reckless with his time/money

this is the sad state of affairs in our country.  He has to explain why he is not irresponsible.

Wow that was a stupid comment.

If you want to go to the club go to the club. Pro athletes from every sport and every race go out clubbing every weekend. It's not about trying to prove that you are "black and with it", it about having a good time and blowing of steam. Just when it is time to work, just be prepared to work.

It is not about them going to the club, it is about others who are at the club and may advantage of the athlete's presence.  They challenge them to defend themselves where they are in a no win situation.  They are vulnerable to criminal activity such as being robbed since people know they have money.  If they protect themselves, they attract media attention which can lead to harsher punishement and negatively affect their career prospects.. They run the risk of being followed home to be attacked there.  I understand the desire to blow off steam, but the club environment is about the worst place they could do this at.

He's on the top tier as far as the NFL goes.  The very top QBs are very seldom seen hitting the party scene hard.  They may party in private, but they are much more concerned about their images than the average player.  Mainly because they make 10x more in endorsement money.

Sbarro wouldn't be so bad if they didn't cook the pizza, let it get cold, then half-ass reheat it in the oven.  If I have to wait 5 minutes for my reheated pizza, why not wait 12 and get one cooked fresh?

Well, I am a dyed in the wool Packer fan so any opposing quarterback automatically starts on the negative side. Also, anyone who comes in with as much hype as RGIII did is on my shiat list until they prove themselves.

Both of my nephews saw him at the club last saturday night.

And by club, I mean movie theater

My nephews are 7 and 12

They were very excited, and said he was really nice.

It's like Al Sharpton impregnated Ann Coulter, and she asked for government assistance to raise the kid, and Bill O'Riley agreed that it would be good policy to do so. Only because it would strengthen the case for Nancy Pelosi to become the next president.

when your father and mother are officers in the military, chances are good you will have your shiat together.

There's a reason why the multi-billion dollar business of the NFL is pushing to make this kid the face of their product.

He's a product of his generation and his hometown.  New York is one of the most segregated cities in the country (2nd, by most measures) and has the widest income gap.  Can't blame him for being that way.

FLMountainMan: He's a product of his generation and his hometown.  New York is one of the most segregated cities in the country (2nd, by most measures) and has the widest income gap.  Can't blame him for being that way.

The "NYC as most segregated city" line is horseshiat. That isn't to suggest that NYC - like (sadly) most of the US - doesn't have this issue, but to suggest it is amongst the most segregated US cities is absurd.

I've seen the data, and it's a methodology issue: the studies use census tracts - geographical subdivisions created by the Census Bureau and designed to have about 4,000 people. The more densely populated a city is - and NYC is the most densely populated by far - the more census tracts exist, and will exist closer to each other.

Put simply, the effect is this: If I live in an area 4,000 people it will probably be one census tract. If that area is really two equal sized towns ("Whitetown" and "Blacktown") that are 100% racially segregated and located several miles apart, the studies will list that community as integrated. In NYC, the census tract where I live is one block wide and ten blocks long. While it is predominantly white (around 80%), there are several majority black census tracts within 10 minutes walking distance (and share various civic infrastructure). These studies would list my community as less integrated than the completely segregated communities in my fictional example.

A look at a "most/least segregated cities in the US" list almost invariably follows population density. Atop the "least segregated" list are southern and western cities with low population density: Tuscon, AZ (2,793.6 residents per square mile), Las Vegas, NV (4,222.5; the outlier on the list), Colorado Springs, CO (2,242.5), Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville, S.C. (1,806.7), and Raleigh, NC (2916.4) . The "most segregated" cities are densely packed Northeastern cities: Milwaukee (6,188), NYC (27,550!), Chicago (11,864.4), Detroit (5,142), Cleveland (5,107), Buffalo (6,436.2) and St. Louis (5,140.1).

Detroit, though, is amazingly segregated based on city lines.  You have the city of Detroit which is over 85% African American; the city of Livonia which is over 90% white.  They're only two miles apart.  Different subgroups also tend to group together (Arabic areas, Chaldean areas, Jewish areas, Japanese areas, Indian areas), not in cities but in suburban neighborhoods.  It's odd.
