MisterRonbo: Satan's Bunny Slippers: I liked Tang as a kid.  I know, I know.....I wonder if that plays some part in my affection for "sour" drinks as an adult.  I really do not like any sweet drinks, and my fallback is water with lemon (Lots and lots and lots of lemon. ) or fresh grapefruit juice no sweetener.

I loved the stuff as a kid, and never was much for soda.  Maybe its why I like tonic water and Collins mix to this day. My friends in high school used to think it was hilarious for some reason that I drank Collins mix, like it was some upper class affectation. But really, I just like my drinks the way I like my women - strong and bitter.

I too am a tonic water/seltzer water person.  It's never occurred to me about Collins mix.  The only soda I ever liked as a kid was Tab.  Which of course had all the bitter nastiness that was saccharine.

How YOU doin?  ;)

Yes. Yes, clearly I was mistaken in my deadly earnest indictment of the entire concept of a stock market based on something Buzz Aldrin said about a powdered breakfast drink. I see now that I should be more careful in making such serious allegations, lest I accidentally destroy the entire economy.

This is my serious face.  :|

I thought they only used Tang to make the water palletable; something about the containers imparting a metallic taste.

That makes sense; I loved Tang as a kid, still kind of do and when it comes to fruit, I prefer unsweetened limes/lemons to oranges, actually like chokecherries and have actually put a little salt on an orange because it was too sweet.

Haven't seen the frozen kind that comes out in the shape of the can in quite some time. I know Dole and some other brands exist but it was specifically the Tropicana Twister (Orange/Strawberry/Banana) mix that was the best by far.

The Tropicana Twister from the can/bottle premixed tastes crappy in comparison.

We would drink hot tang in boyscouts.  Boiled water for it instead of just using cold.  It helped it out quite a bit, and was good on cold morning campouts.

It's every where here too.  I'm in the Southwest US and most super markets here have at least a freezer door or two with nothing but juice concentrate cans.  All kinds, and most brands that were available when I was a kid.  We also have have the fresh(ish) juice in the dairy sections as well.  We pretty much have the same selections we've always had here.  Heck, you can even find it in some of the smaller Mom&Pop shops too.

Where are you people at that can't find the juice concentrate cans?

I'm not sure about that specific brand but around here you can get frozen concentrated juice in pretty much every conceivable flavor of juice.

My childhood drinks were ecto cooler, Hawaiian punch (they don't sell it in Canada and was a primary cause of me hating Canada as a 6 year old) and these really awesome juice cans that had all kinds of flavors in one flat I don't remember the brand though. They were white cans with stylized drawings of the contents on them. Papaya was my favorite.

I May Be Crazy But...: Tang is great for camping. A good hot drink on a cold evening is hot tang. Or, if you're more the hot chocolate type, put some tang in your hot chocolate for the glory of chocolate and orange together.

/Before you go out and actually try it, I should warn you that I've also been known to drink the blue powerade hot if I can't get hold of any tang.

you may want to try this:

-microwawe a pack of Haribo Gummibär (jelly-beans) till the content get almost liquid, but not to hot, you don't want the plastic to melt.
-cut one corner
-Suck it!

So, here's a question about the frozen OJ concentrate... there's been numerous threads about how the jugs of orange juice you get in the store are basically filled with sugar water with flavor and pulp added later, because the shelf life of actual squeezed orange juice is measured in hours. Because the concentrate is presumably frozen soon after being squeezed, does that make it less adulterated than the stuff in the jugs?

We sold plenty when I was working for a grocery store in the 1990's.  I never quite understood the concept though.  You can get normal OJ anywhere.
