Oh Valverde.  Actually I blame Leyland in trotting that guy out there every chance he gets.  There was a reason NO other team wanted him when he was available.

Cabrera - All-Star / Future HOF'er
Verlander - All-Star / Probable HOF'er
Scherzer - 8-0, probably looking at a nice 4yr/70m contract coming up
Sanchez - Light Out, making bid to start AS Game this year
Fister - Best #4 in the league?
Peralta - Other than Biogenesis thing, probably should be starting AS Game
Martinez - Career .300 hitter starting to heat up after taking a year off due to injury
Jackson - Stud
Even Infante/Porcello/Smyly/Benoit are doing well...

But no, let's forget that $100+million of the payroll and turn the game over to Valverde. I can't believe the afformentioned players haven't stormed Dombrowski's office and told him to get someone or trade me. In the 10th yesterday you could see the Tigers just gave up. I think you're going to start seeing that really obviously if you keep Valverde in there, what's the point of doing well if you know the $500k player is just going to lose it all for you 30% of the time?

Was awesome to hear the KC announcers praise the Detroit starters and then say "but Valverde's coming in, so we're still in a good spot to win this game". Detroit sports radio was livid for the past 24 hours. I'm surprised they didn't find him floating in the Detroit river this morning.

At this point, the SP should get to pitch one fast ball at the potato's head after every blown save.

I would like for Leyland to pitch Valverde every chance he gets, especially in close games. I think it is a sound decision and should be praised.

Yep.  I say make Smyly the closer.  Your entire starting staff is righthanded.  Kid pitches well, has good numbers and they don't hit it real hard against him.

How often has Chicago had to look up to Cleveland, Detroit, Kansas City? How much you guys sellin' Crain for?

I have no hope for the White Sox, so all I can root for is that the Tigers don't win the division. However if they do I will root for them to make the World Series and lose in devastating fashion in game 7.

Valverde is just a giant douche, and watching him get lit up is schadenfreude that extends far beyond my Detroit hatred. I think everyone can agree with that.

See, there is a common ground in all sports city rivalries...

I didn't hear the play by play. I was at the game. KC fans tend to be classy and give credit when due.
Of course it's BBQ it's KC. Butlers giving his name to chairty

You might as well use the sauce in a celebration.  If you need to drown your BBQ in sauce, you haven't cooked the meat right.

Thanks for saying that.  For a minute there I was thinking it was KC that was dry rub, but I was confusing it with Memphis.

\I'm a Carolina BBQ fan myself, with a mix of the two types usually ending up on my plate
