Wow, Greinke could plunk someone at every MLB game every day from the safety of the clubhouse. It's a dream come true for him!

Er, is there a player this season that has taken more punishment from thrown balls and angry plate-leaners than Grienke?

No?  So, what's this about a bubble?

I remember Quentin being upset that he was hit for the millionth time while standing on home plate. It seems like maybe he wants the bubble.

Greinke got hit in the head and stayed in and broke up a double play.

That's quite a bubble.

By the way, just because I happened to notice it and now have to share:

Zack Greinke: 6421 Batters Faced, 48 HBP
Carlos Marmol: 2343 BF, 49 HBP

At least Greinke seems to plunk hitters respectably, as in not in the head like that farker Ian Kennedy did last night to Puig (and again tried to do to Greinke, who was able to get his shoulder up in time.)

Doesn't make it OK to throw at someone's head.

Quentin gets hit a lot for crowding the plate... yet there's only one pitcher he's ever charged. I wonder what's different about Greinke?

He's a bad-tempered SOB who was hit by a couple of Greinke pitches a few years ago.

I know!  Greinke hits batters at a rate lower than the MLB average..

Greinke, career: 1 HBP per 32 IP.
All of MLB, 2012: 1 HBP per 29 IP.

What do I win?

The knowledge that someone who has better-than-average control is therefore more likely to be throwing at someone intentionally if he delivers a plunk. In other words, it's less likely that the wildness was accidental.

fark Zack Greinke.  Puig gets hit by a pitch which no one could call intentional.  What reason would Kennedy have had to hit him?  Greinke responds by deliberately plunking Montero.  Kennedy says he was trying to back Greinke off the plate when the ball got away, but even if he hit him intentionally, it's just desserts for throwing at Montero.

Batters get hit, but as long as it's not intentional there's no need for retaliation.  Greinke escalated the situation unnecessarily and set the stage for a brawl in the process.

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought the pitch was going to be launched from the kid's house, basically as an ICBM baseball.

If someone hits your young, hotshot in the head (accidentally or not), a 90 mph fastball to the side is about the tamest response that could be delivered.

Really?  He was backing Greinke off the plate?  He was backing a pitcher with a career .195 average and 43+ OPS off the plate?

And you are buying that?  You can't smell the BS from where you are?

If you hit a team's hottest hitter anywhere near the head, someone on your team is taking one in the back.

The big issue I have is that Greinke took, what, three shots to hit Montero.  If you cannot hit him on the first throw, you don't get a second shot.  And if you do keep throwing at him, expect to get hit the next time you bat.

On the other hand, I have a big problem with Kennedy throwing at anyone's head, even one as notoriously fragile as Greinke.  While it only hit him in the shoulder, it was clear Kennedy was aiming for his head.
