If the Chinese are looking for celestials, they only have to go to a mirror!

///well, they used to call their country the Celestial Empire, and then we called them "celestials" as a racist slur, so there

The jig was up when the "aliens" then asked for a #2 combo with an extra egg roll and a scorpion bowl for two.

Admission of hoaxing is not enough to convince The True Believers. He's gonna have to do better than that.

That's a pretty cool looking model to keep around for a halloween party or something.

I don't exactly understand the part where they threw him in jail for a hoax.  Is that like a serious offense in China, or is it because he cost a whole bunch of people a lot of money?

I was wondering that too.  Though I would think that without freedom of speech, lying is a crime.

FTFA: Shortly after he proudly posted photographs of his alien on the internet, he was arrested by the police for five days for "fabrications" that "disturbed the public order".

He sat in a city jail for 5 days. Wouldn't exactly call that serious offense.

I don't believe this was a hoax for a second. The Chinese police got to this guy and forced him to come public with it being a hoax, but we all know this is a genuine alien. They just made a model to cover up the original REAL body. Wake up, sheeple!

That's China for you.  Always worried about disturbing public order.  Man, that must be one helluva place to live.
Having said that, this guy must be some kind of idiot for thinking that wasn't going to happen.

At least he only got 5 days.  I had actually imagined that they'd simply execute him for it.

IIRC one of the bigfoot hoaxers from last year was a cop and he lost his job over it.

Not that I believe that's really an alien, but I would guess the Chinese government could get Mr. Li to admit to damn near anything if they really wanted to.

Does... does that alien have a vagina?  Maybe this was an attempt at a homemade realdoll that went horribly awry, so the guy just rolled with it, and said it was an alien.

Standards are going down everywhere.  They should have shot everyone in his family, out to three generations to make sure the rot was eliminated.

Funny, I always felt that was complimentary; it's certainly far more polite than "Yellow Peril" or even "Chinks."

Why? because of your own ignorance or biasness? not everything is China is an automatic death penalty like what you think based on dumb hyperbole and exaggeration. You probably think Shanghai is just like Detroit as well and those dumb chinks eat aborted babies and dogs for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

What does it mean if that was the first thing I noticed?

The 'alien' looked fake. Oh wait, it's made in China...

2013-06-12 09:28:10 PM
FTFA: "After the police interrogated me, I confessed I was a fan of UFOs and the alien was a fake. I just wanted other people to believe that aliens existed," he told the Shandong Evening News.

So let me get this straight: In order to try and legitimize a belief, he thought it would be a good idea to make a weak hoax that is easy to disprove?

Sigh.  Every day is a reminder that half of humanity is below average intelligence.

The alien looks a lot like that banjo playing kid in the movie Deliverance.

That's actually pretty impressive, all things considered.
