In the abstract, that's a good thing. I'd rather have people voting for candidates based on their records and positions, rather than "I'll vote for him because he's cute" or "i'll vote for her because she's black" nonsense.

In reality, though, people don't know the candidates' positions or records either.

Probably because Weiner was a national political figure who had a weeks long scandal associated with him and the rest are minor players? I mean, Christine Quinn is City Council speaker but unless you're seeing her in ads or on the TV news, who the hell is gonna know what she looks like?

Unless you're big into the goth community

Little embarrassed that I only recognized half of them but if any of them recognizes me they will get my vote.

Plus, who can tell all these white man walking hairdos apart anyway? Did you know the Senate has its own barber shop? They have a farking template.

Also, the "har har, they all recognize Kim Kardashian" shiat is farking stupid. I've never seen a show of hers in my life, but I do buy groceries and stand in lines next to dozens of gossip mags with her face all over them.

/And I vote.

The only times most New Yorkers see their politicians is when the politicians are being perp-walked.

Schumer excepted, of course.
