that's like asking Sid Fernandez to teach you to steal bases because Ricky Henderson isn't available.

Well, why not hire someone with that kind of experience?

FTFA: "Ewing has worked as an NBA assistant for eight seasons. He worked in Houston from 2003 to 2008 and in Orlando from 2008 to 20012"

Ewing has to be mad after what, 10 years as an NBA assistant, paying his dues, and now Jason Kidd is in all likelihood going from the starting lineup to the head coaching gig in about 5 months?

Patrick Ewing is teaming up with Michael Jordan for the first time since "Space Jam"

Any reference to that cinematic masterpiece makes me happy.

That's a lot of experience.

/Although after 18,004 years on Orlando's bench, you'd think he'd get promoted

He couldn't make things any worse, MJ is a horrible owner/executive

Good for Ewing. I believe he did this to help the big guys in the paint, which is a great idea.  Some people need a mentor.  I just hope he keeps him longer than 2 years so he has a chance to build a team.

Managing players and playing are two entirely different skillsets. It's a rare thing for people to have talent in both.

Bill Russell won 2 rings as a player-coach. That's why he's GOAT.

Headline:  If MIchael Jordan can't help you win, you might as well hire Patrick Ewing

Is Jordan spelling his name differently because there is no "I" in 'team,' and if so, why make things twice as bad by hiring Patrick Ewing?

What has Patrick Ewing ever won?

MIchael.  that is all.

He won Olympic gold medals as a member of the 1984 and 1992 U.S. Men's National Basketball teams.

And the 1984 NCAA title. A couple of Eastern Conference titles as well.

So is he going to travel with the team?

2013-06-12 01:45:10 PM
He won rookie of the year even though he only played in 50 games. He did not deserve it at all. Xavier McDaniel should of won it, but didn't because of East Coast bias.

Yeah.  Ewing can teach him to shoot seventeen-foot jumpers and cry in the corner when he sees Hakeem Olajuwon.

Probably not.  Jordan will continue his tradition of using high draft picks to take tall guys who can't move and pretend Bismack never happened.

Better than Karl Malone.

BJ Mullens doesn't need Patrick Ewing to show him how to take ill advised jumpers and cry in the corner on defense.  On a serious note, as limited as Dwight Howard's offense is, it was basically nonexistent until Ewing came to the Magic bench.  Given how physically talented Biyombo is, Jordancat fans finally have a few things to be excited about.

Referring to Morrison I'm guessing since Diop and Mullens came over in trades (Ajinca was pretty athletic)?  It'll be fairly interesting to see who they take with the #4 pick.  Maybe McLemore will drop to them, and they'll have a pretty good core group of players.

Kwame Brown, mostly, but Morrison also sucked.  And I think it's going to be Alex Len.

So professionally he's known for coming in second.

A lot.

Which would be an amazing accomplishment for the new-Hornets.
