If only he could see his potential as a solid fullback or halfback who's an occasional passing threat. Years of his career have been wasted because of his QB Only requirement.

For a guy who's supposed to be humble he sure does let his ego get in the way.

WTF is this shiat? What other failed QBs are criticized for refusing to change positions?

Oh he'd make a good TE or FB...really? He isn't NFL fast. He knows nothing about playing those positions. He's pretty thick, but there's been plenty of more athletic failed QBs who weren't expected to change positions after only winning one playoff game. Let the guy try to be a QB if that's what he wants, if he doesn't make it, he doesn't make it. He won't be the first and definitely not the last college star to not make it in the NFL.

Ridiculous comment.

Believe it or not, Herm Edwards on Mike & Mike yesterday summed this up quite nicely...I'm sure ESPN radio.com has it on the archives.

"He only knows how to play QB...stop with this other position nonsense, he can't make a 53-man roster in any other spot" was the point of his comments.

It's not "ego", it's the fact that about .001% of all NFL players can actually switch positions and still make a 53-man roster.  This isn't Madden...its actually real football....players don't just become effective overnight in new positions unless they are blessed with things like super-ridiculous speed or super-ridiculous strength compared to other NFL players...2 things that Tebow doesn't have.

He either makes it in the NFL as a QB (with likely some read option plays) or he doesn't make it at all.  He's not making any NFL roster in another position, there are too many good players that already exist to sign Tebow in those slots.

He easily could make the transition to an offensive tackle who occasionally passes the ball or a safety that also punts.

There were reports that Tebow was in mini camp throwing yesterday and his mechanics are noticably poor (though likely overscrutinized).
My guess is that he'll end up on IR, and in 2014 he'll line up at H-Back, much like Aaron Hernandez, and will shift between the wing, the slot, and in the backfield, as well as QB in short yardage situations.  Another big if is where he's carried on the roster.  If memory serves, if he's the 3rd strring QB and plays even one down, Ryan Mallet (QB#2) becomes ineligible to play in that game.

Neither of those were failed QBs. They were college QBs who changed positions in the NFL (well Cribbs at least, Crouch never even got on a roster I dont think). Tebow isn't anywhere near athletic enough to become a KR or WR. He's just a bad QB, he'll either make it as that or he won't.

This is nothing more than Josh McDaniels desperately trying to justify taking Tebow in the first round while at Denver.  I imagine McDaniels convinced Belichick to bring him in and see if there is something there.  Tebow will not survive the first cut

Add me to the chorus of those thinking it's ridiculous that he will change positions and be a full time starter at some position he has never played. Not happening. His signing was a no risk proposition for the Pats. No guaranteed money and they can and will cut him whenever.  Tebow fans remain delusional about his prospects.

Speaking of Hernandez, here's is what he said about Tebow...

"There's a reason why he's here. I actually don't now the reason yet but we'll see," Hernandez said. "I'm sure he'll be doing a few things here. That's up to Bill Belichick." Link

Belichick: "Timothy, we brought you here because we love you. We love you and we need you to stop. you have to stop passing. You're hurting yourself, you're hurting your teammates, you're hurting your fans, and you're hurting the NFL. We need you to stop passing."

Tebow: "Honest to Gosh Coach, I haven't been passing! I'm clean!"

Belichick: "Oh Timmy. Timmy, Timmy, Timmy. Please stop with the denials. We have you on tape! We're the New England Patriots! Of course we have you on tape, just passing, and passing and passing. And badly. We had hoped that sending you from a good team to the Jets would shock you into seeing the damage you've done. We had hoped that hitting rock bottom would make you think. Now, we're offering a way out. But we can't do this on our own. You have to want to stop passing."

Tebow: "But Gee Whillikers Coach, I can pass! Watch! (picks up Lombardi Trophy, awkwardly hurls it at Danny Amendola, striking Rob Gronkowski three seats over, rebreaking his forearm). Oh Shoot! My bad!"

Belichick: (winces from deep inside his hoodie) "Tim, if you try to throw another oblate spheroid I'm going to turn you into a newt. Or perhaps a tackling dummy."

Tebow: "Shucks, Jets already did that, Coach."

Belichick: "OK Timmy, you've forced my hand. Here's the deal in black and white. We have your mother tied up in a sack, hanging from the top of the flagpole at Gillette Stadium. If you even move your arm back in a throwing motion, we're gonna cut the rope. Understood?"

Tebow: "Wowser, Coach! I guess you got me over a barrel, like I always prophesied. With the strength of both God and Coach Belichick on my side, I can do this! Or not do this, I forget which. I'm gonna win you a Super Bowl! C'mon guys! Group hug!"

Belichick: (slowly backing away smirking) "Timmy, put your shirt back on."

Dude, that was 35 years ago, and he played safety in college before switching to QB. You might as well point to Chuck Bednarik for that kind of relevance.

Joshua Cribbs, Antwaan Randle El, Julian Edelman, Ronald Curry, Brad Smith, and Matt Jones are also college QBs who transitioned to WR at the NFL level.  All-pro players? Not really.  Solid contributors? Absolutely.  Can Tebow do the same?  I don't see why not, but it isn't a guarantee either.  Refusing to even attempt another position will get him out of the league.  He just isn't accurate enough/fast enough delivery to be a QB in the NFL.

/Also, Michael Robinson became a RB/FB

So what he is saying is that Tebow is too dumb to learn anything new. Then how could you ever expect him to learn a new offensive scheme? Perhaps that is part of the problem, he wasted all his available brain cells learning to play offense in Florida, and has nothing left but empty space above the neck.

I believe they ditched the emergency inactive #3 QB slot and just made it a normal roster spot starting last season.  I also believe this lead most teams to not roster a third QB on game day.

Actually, looks like it might have been 2 seasons ago:

Evangelicals are more overt with their faith because they're supposed to witness to others. When people see how "blessed" the evangelical is they will convert and become born-again. There was a South Park episode: Randy Marsh, seeing how great the Mormon family is, decides to become Mormon, despite the silliness of the Book of Mormon.

For all those who say "Tebow can't play QB in the NFL" I watched him play with the Broncos, and while he isn't top tier by any stretch, do we really think he's worse than Tannehill, Locker, Foles , Sanchez, or whoever starts for the Cardinals this week? No one drafted quarterbacks early this year, and some teams desperately needed one. I think it's more his press that's scaring everyone away. If he succeeds it's all his glory, and if he fails, you're the idiot GM and head coach who chose Tebow, either way, your team stops being a team and becomes the Tebowtown Tebows, and nobody wants that.
