What's the big deal? If your not doing anything wrong what does it matter if they keep a copy of all your sexts? The only people who would object are unreasonable criminals.

I can't believe a completely harmless site like 4chan would have users worried that the government might be collecting information on them!

And on those websites you will have ad banners that track you and collects information on you on what sites you visit, your demographics and what stuff you buy on every website you visit.

or as the NSA understands it internally, "an upgrade".

As Stephen Colbert said, "If you're doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide from the giant surveillance apparatus the government's been hiding."

Here's something that I don't get. They've been gathering data just from US citizens?.

Reddit has NOT been handling it well, but to be fair, it's summer as fark over there. Kids, kids everywhere.

&no, and that will be the fun part when the countries that haven't had their spirit broken start protesting. I just can't think which countries that might be.nbsp;

Isn't the 4chan way to track down all the politicians' and spooks' home addresses and telephone numbers, then troll them IRL, get them fired and investigated for child porn, make threats against their families, and eventually drive them all to suicide?

I mean, petitioning the government sounds a bit too pussy for them.

Well, I've been refining my modern definition of irony, see what you think:

American citizens who complain the government is surreptitiously spying on them; while telling all their friends exactly what they're doing on Twitter, posting updates and pictures of their lunches on Facebook, and asking OnStar for precise directions from where they are to where they want to go.

What I don't get is why the government even needs to gather data. They could just update their friends list from time to time.

Because some people might want to keep some communications private, and for communications to be private by default. Hence, sharing is not by default.
What people share is only a small slice of their lives.

Reddit isn't necessarily saner but it usually is more small-d democratic. And a good deal younger, which makes for an interesting alternate perspective to Fark.
