We have learned more about the extent of Harvey Updyke's Crimson Tide fanaticism.  We already knew that his children's names are Crimson and Bear, but now we know their full names are Crimson Tyde Updyke and Bear Bryant Updyke.  His dogs are named Crimson and Nicky (after Nick Saban).  Harvey reportedly wanted to name a third child Ally Bama, to which his wife replied, "Hell no."

Aaahhhh, the deep south.

Since Updyke poisoned those trees Bama has beat auburn two years in a row by a combined score of 91-14 and won two national championships.  There is no other explanation but that Updyke is some sort of god

Or perhaps something inside the cages that would serve as a deterrent to someone entering and attempting to vandalize the contents.

Nicely played. Stay away from Lafayette. My sister lives there and I like visiting.

So what degree from the University of Alabama does this dufus have?  It's always been strange to me how fervent people can be for colleges which they never attended.  Pulling for local schools...I get that.  When I lived in TX, I pulled for UT, even though I never went there.  But being willing to poison trees or to beat someone up because of a rivalry which you have no part in seems WAY over the top.

Giving your kids stupid farking names in honor of people who you've never met or who don't have any idea who you are....committing crimes in the name of "supporting your team"...just to name a couple (but I have more that are not necessarily specific to the jackass in TFA)

Eh, I'll even give a pass on the kid's name. I once knew an older guy whose dad was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan from way back. So big of a fan, in fact, that he named his son Musial. And that's kind of a cool name.

I mean, you've gotta name the kids something. I'm with you on the crime thing, though.

Has a loss by whatever team you support ever caused you to get angry for more than about 2 minutes?  Have you ever broke anything because whatever team you support lost a game/series/whatever?  Have you ever cried because whatever team you support lost (or won) a game/series?

You'll see these type of actions on youtube or whatever and my first thought is always "get a farking grip dude!" (it's usually a guy)....

Sports teams only care about your passion for them to the extent that said passion translates to money in their pocket....and even then, your's is just another dollar in the cash register, "so fark you if you think we care about YOU specifically"....

Have you ever broke anything because whatever team you support lost a game/series/whatever?  Probably.  Can't think of anything in particular

Have you ever cried because whatever team you support lost (or won) a game/series? No, but I have been sick to my stomach after a loss and I threw up before the 2007 LSU game because I was so excited/nervous (we lost....sad face)

The University of Alabama only knows I exist to the extent of my student record and/or donations made.  I could die this instant and the team would not care.  I'm not delusional I have never thought the team cared about me anymore than I think Ken Follett cares that I like his novels

He should have served more time for killing those trees.
However, in fairness, making a threatening remark to a Lowe's employee shouldn't be a crime.
The whole franchise is staffed with minimum wage idiots that deserve to be threatened.

If you root for Alabama because you went to school there, I'll give you a pass, to a point...it isn't life of death whether they win a football game.  And if somebody thinks it is, then they need to lighten the fark up....

Let me clarify that I don't care who one roots for (as if it matters what I care)...my point is directed more at those who are lose all sense of reality or even sanity when it comes to rooting for their team(s).....keep some perspective, realize it IS JUST A GAME, have fun and then when the final whistle sounds go about your day/week until the next one on the schedule...

Probably too late to continue this discussion but I am curious as to why.  My brother in law grew up in Louisiana and is a huge LSU fan.  His Dad went to school there.  When he graduated from high school he decided to go into the military instead of going to college.  Why can he not be an LSU fan?
