Even though according to the ratings I was probably the only one watching, the last episode of Dallas this season deserves to be on this list, maybe even at the top. Best show on TV that no one watches.

I just saw the one where Trapper left and didn't get to say goodbye to Hawkeye because he was boozing around Tokyo.   The feels!

/seriously, I watch Mash.

People were upset by the death of Merle?  I mean sure he was sort of becoming a character that could potentially be an ally, but he was always causing troubles and could never be trusted.  I was glad when he finally died.

Saw episode one and it was great. Haven't been in the mood for anything that heavy since though.

If the episode where Arnold's burns down isn't on there then I don't want to live in this life no more.

It's on the Sundance Channel with a second season on the way. Pretty soul-crushingly depressing and bleak though.

I know SOA has it's share of detractors on Fark, but as far as fans like me go, TFA is correct. About 3/4 the way through Season 5, I realized that no one on that show is going to have a happy ending.

/Except for Happy, obviously.

Meh at the list.

1. Jurassic Bark - Futurama
2. Red Wedding - Game of Thrones
3. That's My Dog - Six Feet Under

"Dr. Samuel Becket never came home."

Oh, wait, just this year.  Merle's death, definitely, as well as Andrea's.  But GoT's Red Wedding has to be the top.

I dunno, I got 2 or 3 episodes in, and I got the sense that the series wasn't actually  goinganywhere. I hate shows that feel the need to circle around building characters at the expense of plot. That's not to say you can develop plot at the expense of characters, but if you're going to make a mistake, make the mistake of  plot.

were people really surprised in a series where every episode features killing, torture, war, rape, etc. that there might be a little blood?

even if you didn't expect the red wedding, I don't understand how anyone could be surprised or devastated.

maybe those folks should stick to pbs kids.

/tig's daughter getting burned should have been higher

mcmnky: even if you didn't expect the red wedding, I don't understand how anyone could be surprised or devastated.

I don't even watch the show (or read the books), but I could have predicted the "Red Wedding". Here's the thing- while it claims to be a "character driven" show, none of the characters farking matter. Since there isn't really any meaningful  plot to the whole thing, you can have wholesale slaughters and none of it matters.

I watched 15 minutes of the first episode, and the only thing surprising about the "Red Wedding" was that it took them this long to get to killing off a bunch of characters like that.

Glad to see some love for "The Hour", even if the assholes at BBC canned the show (unfairly I might add)!

Darryl's reaction to seeing his brother zombified was pretty heart-wrenching.

Nope:  all-time most devistating episode this year has to go to How It's Made.

Headline is about a dumb swords and tits soap opera that is the flavor of the moment escapism that people online can't shut up about. Really, why read the article so we can whine about how the Red Wedding was/wasn't like it was in the book and how if only Don Draper somehow could be sucked through a space wormhole, in a script written by Joss Whedon, could it possibly be better.

THANK YOU.  I would have also said the episode when Crixus lost his head and the Finale.  How Spartacus doesn't get it's recognition is beyond me, best damn show ever to exist

2013-06-10 09:09:49 PM
Fairly good list.  So glad they covered "Southland" - what a terrific show that doesn't get enough love.  Probably the best cop show I've ever seen since "The Wire," with a possible exception for "Luther", but that's a British import.

And Varro ("Spartacus") died in 2010, right?  Lots of painful deaths from that show, almost on par with "Game of Thrones."  Hope you don't get banned for that screen cap though, overfienduglar.

I'm sure this list will need updating once Breaking Bad returns.

If you feel the need to use half of the paragraph for the #1 spot to continue writing about how devastating the #2 spot was, you probably chose wrong.

NeoCortex42: I'm sure this list will need updating once Breaking Bad returns.

I think everyone following the show has pretty much accepted that Walt's gonna bite the big one.

/Mike's death wasn't shocking as much as it was sad.
//The kid being shot, however, was totally out of left field.  Walt's covering it up pretty much finished off his soul.

Sadly, I haven't seen any of the 5th season of SoA, but stupidly 'liked' a fan page, so got inadvertently spoiled...but sure it will devastate me, nonetheless.

But

1.)  Bobby's death on NYPD Blue
2.)  Juliette's LOST offing
3.)  John Locke finding out dad was a kidney-stealing douche who never loved him.  (LOST was chock full of sadness, but those to ripped me to the core.)

Seriously, people, the list was for THIS SEASON only, not of all time.

Geesh.
