Reincarnate as the perfect Libertarian Ubermensch, who builds his own off-grid home at the age of 8, is a millionaire by 16, and finally runs on a platform of dissolving the state in 2060.

Didn't that happen in The Dead Zone?

I thought the warrant thing was already covered.

Well you can prattle on any subject you choose
And you can bullshiat while everyone tries to snooze
It doesn't matter, just try to get on the news.
It's a Rand-stand

/RAND PAUL in '16   Just look at what he's done for Kentucky!

They got warrants to do this.
What he should do is require they be granted by a Circuit Court rather than these messed up FISA courts that are pretty much rubber stamps for the warrants.

markfara: I thought the warrant thing was already covered.

Those are the FISA "everyone at all times warrants." I'm guessing he means to get rid of those and require actual warrants for individual requests.

He's a libertarian.  He's got his own set of facts.

Please note he has no problem with spying, as long as you have your papers in order.

That would make sense.

Rand Paul: conducts a filibuster to get Obama & Holder to promise not to use drones over US soil except in cases of dire emergency - something they had already agreed to days beforehand.

Rand Paul: introduces a bill to require a warrant for the government to get phone records - which they already do.

Rand Paul: An idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Rand Paul was also quite happy to have drones take out liqour store robbers. The guy is full of shiat.

2013-06-10 09:23:57 AM
This would not change a thing. There is already a secret court setup to automatically rubber stamp requests like this.

2013-06-10 09:24:00 AM
Unless it is a Muslim running out of a liquor store after robbing it, of course.

With RANDPAUL such guesses are generally unfounded. Remember his support of police using UAVs to execute someone who may have just robbed a liquor store and/or is black without trial AFTER his filibuster the rubes and jackasses ate up.

So out of the billions of calls made every day, the nsa has singled you out and are spying on you. It is physically impossible to sort through all those calls and spy on individuals unless you trigger one of the markers, like calling a known al queda number.  Chill comrades.

2013-06-10 09:35:27 AM
I'm a little confused here. Rand Paul was briefed about NSA actions alongside every single other member of congress a very long time ago, but he did nothing. Now he wants to challenge the NSA? Opportunistic and shady. I don't trust him.

2013-06-10 09:36:14 AM
I should note this does not stop Verizon etc. from voluntarily handing over phone records to the NSA etc. and not telling you about it. Yeah a real game changer there Randy.

Since his warrants can only be delivered by Unicorn, all citizens must carry an inflatable unicorn horn with secret microphone and camera at all times.

And afterwards he will support a much more intrusive and worse version of this much like the drone issue?

2013-06-10 09:52:58 AM
There already is a bill to require warrants for phone records. It's the 4th Amendment. I guess nobody seems to give a shiat about this.

Not immediately afterward. Just the first time he feels he needs to convince some pigfu*kers in Iowa that he's tough on crime and terror.

I think everyone can agree.... we don't want this bill.  WE WANT PATRIOT ACT REPEALED.  Honestly, I would say 80% of US citizen wants this the Patriot Act revoked.   Democrats/Republicans/Libertards.   we all want it gone.

The Obama Administration seems to give a shiat since they got warrants. Bush and Cheney, not so much.

Sigh... I'm agreeing with RAND PAUL legislation.  I must either be wrong, or this must be an issue so obvious both sides can agree on it.

I can't open a link, but they already get warrants, so it sounds like it is the usual Rand Paul meaningless nonsense.

I'm right there with you. It's hard to agree with Rand Paul even on issues where we agree

I applaud the effort by Paul, but I can't help but think that there is a large segment of Republicans like this that don't seem to realize that they aren't modern Republicans.

I'm really hoping a 3rd party can be a reality sometime.

2013-06-10 10:54:35 AM
If Rand Paul wanted to, he could introduce a bill de-authorizing the type of information gathering the government was granted authority under the PATRIOT act to conduct (that's THIS kind of information gathering) and to dissolve the FISA courts. If he's not willing to do that, he's just posing.

We can only hope.

It's always a trick (read the thread if you'd like a better idea on how his trick is looking to work here). Just assume you should be grabbing an axe.

Last Night I was hoping that there would be a mad showdown in the Small council meeting, Tyrion would have at least got to slap Joffery again, if not castrating him or killing him.

Obama was not required, legally, to obtain a warrant before obtaining phone call metadata (Smith v Maryland, 1979). He obtained one anyways, giving us MORE constitutional protections than he was legally required to.

Please proceed with this "scandal," Republicans.

Totally cool with launching a drone within the USA and blowing up a city block, just to get an accursed liquor store robber, too.

I wonder how much money he is wasting on something that they are already doing and is already law.

Or he is putting something in place that might pass. His dad would have put forth a bill to repeal the PATRIOT ACT and it would have gotten 3 votes.

So pointing out that his actions are pointless attention whoring is "ignoring the issue".
