2004-01-05 10:33:05 AM
While you're in the area you outta have a Dublin Fark party, so I can come!! Seriously, Dublin = Easy to party. And you need to get here before they institute the ban on smoking in pubs/restaurants.

2004-01-05 10:35:05 AM
Oh Bloody Hell.

2004-01-05 10:35:33 AM
I would have loved to have made the Nottingham party but have got Uni exams so will be in lovely Wales :(

Go to the Pit and Pendulum and see if you can find the toilet without having to ask. Its a challenge.

2004-01-05 10:36:43 AM
crap, what to do. watch the simpsons where the family visits london or go to a fark party...?

2004-01-05 10:36:51 AM
Even though he's only five months old he tends to drink too much, stagger around, and barf on himself constantly.

That quote needs to find it's way into the picture album.
Seriously.

Have fun!

Ah, the brass monkey - conveniently located near my flat.

See you there!

2004-01-05 10:42:16 AM
Won't be back in London 'til the 14th. Don't forget your toothbrushes. :-)

2004-01-05 10:48:59 AM
I would have gone to the Edinburgh party, but it's on a Monday, Edinburgh is 200 miles away, I am not a total nerd, I have my own friends and ...

2004-01-05 10:51:23 AM
Count me in for the London one, email will be delivered in a few hours.... My first Fark party, yippee!

2004-01-05 10:52:48 AM
Must... go... to... Edinburgh!

2004-01-05 10:56:06 AM
Reesy19 - you talking about the toilets behind the bookcase? :)

will try to make the Nottingham party and meet the great Drew in person

2004-01-05 10:56:25 AM
So are these trips tax deductible for Drew?

2004-01-05 10:56:32 AM
I want to come to the London party, but I'm relatively new to the site and a bit scared of you people. Anyone go to the last one? What happened?

2004-01-05 10:59:53 AM
I'd go, but I'm off to France for beer, snowboarding, beer, boarder chicks and beer.

Enjoy your drizzle.

BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

2004-01-05 11:05:34 AM
I think I might be able to take a trip up to Nottingham again this year. Just don't use the same airline that lost your luggage last time.

2004-01-05 11:07:30 AM
Schweeeeeeet! I'll be there...Brass Monkey is literally 30seconds away from my Geography Department. See y'all there.

2004-01-05 11:11:30 AM
For anyone wondering what these are like, they're actually pretty low key. We just hang out and drink. I'm constantly surprised by 1) how normal everyone is and 2) how hot the women are

2004-01-05 11:12:35 AM
Yeah and I hope they don't lose my luggage again. It'd be good to see you again Houghton. For everyone else, Houghton is one of two folks that actually found us after the bust that was the 2002 Nottingham Fark Party

2004-01-05 11:13:08 AM
Derbs The very same, first time I went there took me a good 20 mins to find them. Everyone in there was laughing at me grabbing at the walls. :) Im not a native of Nottingham so dont get there very often. Has to be one of my favourite bars in the country however.

As one of the longest serving UK Farkers (a/c #1478, since you ask) I really ought to make an effort to attend this time....*pencils in diary*

2004-01-05 11:18:16 AM
I lived in Nottingham for a year, hence the party there. Can't wait to get back

2004-01-05 11:20:51 AM
Drew where did you go last year after the Bell was shut?

2004-01-05 11:23:05 AM
Arg. I'm at grad school in Manchester, but am home on Christmas break until the 13th. Wonder if I might be able to make the Nottingham party?

2004-01-05 11:23:09 AM
You should have it at The Lenton in Nottingham, used to have a DJ residency there a while back. Great place....

2004-01-05 11:23:49 AM
you went to Nottingham uni didn't you Drew?

2004-01-05 11:26:15 AM
Yup I did, 93-94. Spent the year up in that tower on campus working on a VR project under Steve Benford, who is still there last time I checked.

When the Bell was closed we just went down the street to the Goose, since it was right there. I hadn't been there in awhile either. We met a bunch of old coots, one of whom was channeling WCFields (literally), and made them honorary Farkers

2004-01-05 11:27:32 AM
MoodScrawler - i used to go to the Lenton a few years back. Is it still like little Amsterdam in there? :)

Is there anyone going to the London gig who isn't a tech geek? x

2004-01-05 11:29:49 AM
Feh, Drew doesn't care to visit us in Leeds

/Wah

2004-01-05 11:34:39 AM
Sitting with Heather are the "old coots" that Drew was referring to:

2004-01-05 11:36:32 AM
derbs:
It sure is! I've never been anywhere quite like it, although it occasionally got some pretty intimidating clientelle! Actually, there was this place called Hudson's Bay in Birmingham which was a bit like the Lenton, but that closed years ago, whereas Lenton is still going as far as I'm aware.

Wish there was somewhere like that in London. Maybe there is, and I'm just out of the loop....

2004-01-05 11:38:55 AM
Oh, and PJ I wouldn't consider myself a tech geek, inthat I don't get paid for any techie work I do, and my home PC is only a Pentium 2.....

2004-01-05 11:40:15 AM
Hot chicks? You mean ACTUAL hot chicks? And booze? Splendid. If I can get the time off work, I shall come along.

PJ - I am not a tech geek. I thought Photoshop was that Robin Williams film.

As you may have noticed, I'm not funny either.

2004-01-05 11:43:00 AM
"We'll have a GAY old time!"

2004-01-05 11:47:55 AM
"We'll have a GAY old time!"

Speaking of which, any more Brighton Farkers?

2004-01-05 11:51:30 AM
I think the owner of the Lenton was an ex-fireman or something... anyway he didnt take any shiat and must have known a few people in the force...

2004-01-05 11:52:58 AM
The Brass Monkey is a cool pub. It's got a cinema in the back and lots of cool big cushions that sit lots of people, although you'll inevitably end up with beer spilt on you... it sure is cosy though.

The communal toilets confused me tho...

2004-01-05 11:53:20 AM
That sounds about right. I just used to turn up, play records and leave with reddened eyes....

2004-01-05 12:01:31 PM
Shumz Who the hell wants to go to Leeds?

/from Bradford....but I got out.

2004-01-05 12:03:52 PM
I'm a Lenton, Nottingham resident. See you there!

2004-01-05 12:15:27 PM
I live in Livingston (featured on fark last week!) - about 20 miles out of Edinburgh. I'll check my schedule, if I'm free - I'M THERE!!!

2004-01-05 12:22:16 PM
Getting there is easy enough, Drew, but will they let you fly back home?

2004-01-05 12:50:24 PM
I hear the sheriff of nottingham is a real asshole, oh, and watch out for that "robin hood" guy...

2004-01-05 01:13:14 PM
damn, if only i hadn't spent all my money on women and beer over Christmas... can't make it, i'm penniless. Really want to come as well. Next time.

...mmm... women and beer...

On a serious note, Drew, how often do you make it over?
