If Navenna Shine wishes to follow in the path of previous breatharians and inediates, she should be aware that many of their claims are exaggerated at best and fraudulent at worst. Several people who claimed to survive on nothing more than air and sunlight have been caught sneaking food and water.

I want this woman on a 24 hour webcam, including a chaperone who double-checks the room for food before she goes to the bathroom or bathes.  No chance of food, at all.  No juice.  Nothing with calories.  Let's see how long she lasts.

Slow suicide
The universe's average IQ will go up a few points when she dies.
(Yes, I know the universe is a big place. Yes, I know that in order for the average to go up noticeably, her IQ would have to be negative infinity. Yes, you need to look up the word hyperbole.)

Of course she is a fraud, unless she weighs 800 pounds.

She is an "inediate."
Which is, strangely enough, pronounced "idiot."

She should be banned from receiving medical attention.
Or committed for life.

There's a reason the JREF won't even consider testing these sorts of claims.

This always ends one of two ways:

A) Someone busts them gorging on everything that it is humanly possible to shove down one's shame hole.
B) They get placed under medical supervision and die a week later.

This is a common thing to happen in Seattle when the sun starts coming out for the summer. People lose their minds because they haven't seen sunshine in 6 months.

Fun fact: even if you had symbiotic algae living in your skin that supplied glucose directly to your bloodstream, you'd still have to eat, because you don't have enough skin surface area to collect enough sunlight to power the human body.

There are no pics of the crazy woman in the article so it's possible she weighs over 500 lbs. In which case 6 months without food is entirely possible.

Not really. No matter how much body fat you've stored up, your body needs more than calories to survive.

The great thing about being a guru teaching something like this is that your pupils will always "relapse " and can come back to pay for a refresher course.

And even if you had some magic hyper-efficient setup that could generate enough glucose, you'd still have to eat because your bodies need more than just energy from food. There are a number of essential things (salt being the most obvious) that we require to survive but do not produce. Energy is a major thing food supplies us with that we need, but not the only thing.

The rule of threes:  A human being can live three minutes without air, three days without water, and three weeks without food.  Those are typical figures, the fat middle section of the bell curve, but the extremes don't vary by more than a few percent.  Even plants don't live on "water and sunshine" - they live on food which they create using water and the energy provided by sunshine through the complex process called photosynthesis.

And the CO2 they pull from the atmosphere, and nitrogen and phosphorous and potassium they pull from the soil, and various trace nutrients they pull from the soil.

abstaining from food of any kind and living on only light, water and tea.
And tea?

So, why is tea not a food? What kind of tea? Most tea that comes in a can like Arizona have sugar and HFCS in them.

For some reason that got me thinking, wouldn't it be interesting if there was an organism that could store up hyperoxygenated compounds for times of low oxygen levels? Kinda like how fat stores calories for energy, but this would be for oxygen. An "oxygen fat".

Well she is drinking tea, which can make all the difference depending on the tea. Add in plenty of sugar and milk, plus some fruit juices for flavour. And some potatoes, onions and meat until it looks like stovies. Six of seven mugs of sugar tea, fruit tea and stovies tea should be enough to subtly assist your living on sunlight and water alone.
