Benevolent Misanthrope: If Navenna Shine wishes to follow in the path of previous breatharians and inediates, she should be aware that many of their claims are exaggerated at best and fraudulent at worst. Several people who claimed to survive on nothing more than air and sunlight have been caught sneaking food and water.I want this woman on a 24 hour webcam, including a chaperone who double-checks the room for food before she goes to the bathroom or bathes. No chance of food, at all. No juice. Nothing with calories. Let's see how long she lasts.
Arkanaut: Follow up next week:A) Seattle woman dies of starvationOrB) Seattle "inediate" woman turns out to be a fraud
Dinki: First thing i thought of---
big pig peaches: In which case 6 months without food is entirely possible.
otaku69: I don't know about water, sunshine and tea but I live off Guinness.
theorellior: Fun fact: even if you had symbiotic algae living in your skin that supplied glucose directly to your bloodstream, you'd still have to eat, because you don't have enough skin surface area to collect enough sunlight to power the human body.
ReverendJimBobHammer: I wish I were unethical enough to take advantage of idiots
jdemartino: The rule of threes: A human being can live three minutes without air, three days without water, and three weeks without food. Those are typical figures, the fat middle section of the bell curve, but the extremes don't vary by more than a few percent. Even plants don't live on "water and sunshine" - they live on food which they create using water and the energy provided by sunshine through the complex process called photosynthesis.
BarkingUnicorn: She's not doing too well. Before she started and two days ago:[www.pipuu.com image 485x273]
GentlemanJ: That's nothing! Mr Hilter hasn't slept since 1945, according to his associate, a Mr Ron Vibbentrop...
abstaining from food of any kind and living on only light, water and tea.
theorellior: For some reason that got me thinking, wouldn't it be interesting if there was an organism that could store up hyperoxygenated compounds for times of low oxygen levels? Kinda like how fat stores calories for energy, but this would be for oxygen. An "oxygen fat".
