Sadly no such luck. Deer flies will probably kill the 'nippers. In my experience the larger the mosquito, the lazier it is and therefore less of a threat. Minnesota skeeters are huge and plentiful in the summer but they are easy to avoid. Louisiana skeeters are killers.

We do have turkey raping skeeters here in MN, but those suckers are gonna make for target practice.

I'm originally from La. and the skeeters are and were terrible.  Then I went up to God's Lake Manitoba and we went int the mouth of this one river.  It was like hell was unleashed all at once!  It became nothing but a black cloud and horrendous noise of farking hords of mosquitoes almost ripping away at our flesh.  I threw my fishing pole down and told the guide to get us the fark back out in that lake.  It was pretty brutal.  And yes, it was mosquitoes and not black flies are the other things that Canada has.

4th generation Floridian, here.  The worst mosquito assault I've ever experienced was at a rest stop near Sioux City, Iowa.
Pulled over one July night to catch 40 winks, after a road trip to the Rockies.

/had to get a farkin' transfusion at the local ER

To fight the gallinillers, we must understand the gallinillers. We can ill afford another Florida.

On the bright side, the larvae are cannibalistic and eat other mosquitoes larvae.  They even eat tadpoles.

This species has been found in Michigan, too.

Hmmm.

We have large blood sucking parasites here in Canada. We call the Conservatives.

First off, harmless crane flies are sometimes called gallinippers so expect new freak-outs over crane flies.

Secondly, Psorophora ciliata are not known to vector any human diseases and are known to eat the larvae of other mosquito species which means an increase in gallinippers is actually good.

I was dealing with these things in Central Florida as early as 2009. Surveying on the Big Cypress reservation.

Then we need more pythons too, right?

Seems gallinippers have been around a long time.  From a slave song circa 1846:

De hornet gets in your eyes an nose,
De skeeter bites y'e through your close,
De gallinipper sweeten high,
But wusser yet de blue tail fly.

Mosquitoes. Don't miss those since moving out to California. Sure, people who leave standing water around their houses do make some mosquitoes, but I can count the mosquitoes I've had to smash on one hand in the 10+ years I've been in California.

Came in to mention MN mosquitos. You can hear them coming....

But yeah, I prefer those over the teeny tiny ones. Those ones you can barely even see to smash them.

Throw them all in together and shake the bottle, as the Far Side's Gary Larsen puts it in the one about aliens collecting humans and bears and things in bottles like naughty boys.

Or Winnipeg 'squitos.  It's like Ghosts 'n' Goblins; the first swat just knocks off their armor, you need a second hit to kill them.
