(Football Nation)   With too many pointless, traffic-grabbing stories in the NFL today, here's something worth talking about: can Adrian Peterson become the first player to run for 2000 yards in TWO seasons?   (footballnation.com) divider line 31

Man, I hope so. His time on the field has been fun to watch.

No, provided Ponder continues to score more off the field than on it. There's only so many times you can run against 8 stacked in the box before it wears you down more than you can get back in a week (see: CJ2K). If Ponder can get back to the form he had at the start of last season, I think it's a distinct possibility.

Diluted

12 games to 14 games to 16 games to (soon) 18 games

Hell, maybe.  Learned it's not wise to doubt that dude, especially now that he's seemingly gotten his fumbling under control.

Dude's been running with 8 in the box his entire career.

Yup.

That is a credit to him and his oline. You don't put up the consistent yards he does alone. That offensive line is under-rated, if a bit penalty prone.

And he got there without Steve Hutchinson last year, which is amazing.

Adrian (AD) Peterson is a freak of nature.  If it can be done, he can do it.

basemetal: Adrian (AD) Peterson is a freak of nature.  If it can be done, he can do it.

THIS.

I hate that he basically has his way with my teams' defense twice a year (at least), but in that regard it was like watching Barry Sanders do it with Detroit, I can't help but be amazed and awed.

I'd love to see him get the record, he was how close last year? Like 7 yards or some shiat? That was a borderline crime after his kneesplosion.

CJ2K apparently was never hipped to deer antler spray.

If I were a Viqueens fan, I'd rather win games, wouldn't I?

/then again they've never brought home the trophy
//so maybe they okay with settling for individual accolades

No.

Considering he'll be getting flagged for leading with the helmet this year... I doubt it.

No, the Viks are going to try to pass the ball more this year. Unless Greg Jennings breaks his leg or something.

This.  I can see Marshawn Lynch running into the same problem.

Many players have run for 2000 yards over the course of two seasons.

If I draft him in my fantasy league this year, no, and it won't even be close

Just shows how great a running back OJ Simpson really was, even if he is a murderer. Not just done in 14 games, but they didn't have this thing called a "bye" week in the midseason to rest up.

Cue "why not both" girl.

/Vikings fans are well aware of who is handing the ball off to Peterson

No he won't.

And I'd say it's(another 2K) possible, if not probable.

Fun to watch, I actually met him at a bar once.  Huge guy.

2013-06-09 11:46:11 AM
I hope he gets 2K again but I would bet a lot of money that he doesn't.

2013-06-09 12:43:13 PM
There have been thousands of running backs in the league and only 7 including AP have made it to 2k. Anything is possible, but it is pretty unlikely.

This is probably the most polite fark thread I've ever seen, especially for something I wrote. Have you guys lost your fastball?

FTFY. And I doubt he will. He has taken a lot of abuse, and the thing about that is, it catches up to you real fast. See LT and Shaun Alexander.

Shaun Alexander and Jamal Lewis you mean LDT lasted 11 years.

/although those last two years with the Jets could easily be written off

It depends.  Are they going to start testing for HGH?

Meh, I'd rather Ponder threw for another 1200 and Purple Jesus ran for 400 less yards.
