His crazy is qualitatively different than Bachmann's.  Hers was ideologically-driven (and compounded by her ignorance and lies).  This guy's just a nut and a trainwreck.

what_now: Holy shiat. He..he really said that? He thinks the AVERAGE waiter makes $100,000 a year?

He didn't say "average", he said "many".
Which is also wrong by almost any measure, unless you take "many" to mean "like, ten".

Anyway, the guy's a typical Republican... when it comes to politics and policy, you can expect him to be a bit of an asshole.
But he's nowhere near Bachmann territory.

what_now: Perhaps the greatest moment of Emmer's gubernatorial crusade came when he declared war on waiters and waitresses by calling for Minnesota to ower their minimum wage. Emmer's rationale for this proposal was that many waiters and waitresses earn six figures annually and, thus, should be more reliant on tips.

In fairness it's highly unlikely he has any idea what the term average means or how you might go about calculating it.

Magorn: Here's the sad part:  for all that Batshiattery, he only lost by 9,000 votes and mostly likely that's only because Jesse Ventura's party siphoned off 250,000.  How the hell is that possible in the same state that elects Al Franken to the Senate?

To be fair, his Democratic Opponent Mark Dayton is objectively terrible. I'm the libbyist lib on the libby train, and I still had a hard time filling in the bubble for Dayton on election day.

I think a lot of good people won't go into politics in today's world, which leaves a lot of seats open for jackasses and clowns like Emmer.

Maybe he got his figures from the Wall Street Journal.

Yes...he pointed to a random page and the first figure he saw was 100,000 and he said That sounds right!

If a waiter is making Minnesota's minimum wage, for them to make even half of their six figure salary off of the wage rather than tips they would have to work a minimum of 8,130 hours during a year, an average of 156 hours a week.

Not that it diminishes your point in the slightest, but he didn't say that they year 6 figures 'on average'. His quote from TFA says "there are some".  I suppose that it is possible that 'there are some' waiters/waitresses making over 6 figures assuming a strict definition of some being >1.

I didn't use the word average.

For the supposed "fact" to be valid to the level of the minimum wage, the waiter making 6 figures would have to be making that amount of money while be paid minimum wage by their employer.

What point do you think you're making exactly?

I was kind of assuming that the headline was edited to add "and win" after that post. So, if the headline originally did not have that, his post makes sense.

Even still, sane people can agree that the will of the voters in MN-6 has f%ck all to do with "better" or "worse".

Only way he could win anything in this state is if he runs in Bachmann's district, and the rest of the state where Meth is not a food group were not allowed to vote against him. He got his ass handed to him when he tried running as Governor, no one likes his drunk ass outside of utter partisan shills.
