The original Die Hard, it's really a feel good family movie about a Dad who just wants to get home for Christmas.

And has a machine gun.

Ho. Ho. Ho.

I highly recommend "Ordinary People" or "Sophie's Choice".

Three Amigos and Harry and the Hendersons. They were two of my favorite movies when I as a kid and remind me of a time when things were much simpler

"Desk Set" is my annual holidays movie - Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Gig Young, Joan Blondell, COMPUTERS!!! and plenty of alcohol.

No music, no smooching, just brains and witty writing.

/And don't bother trying to tell me any of you Farkers have ever heard of it while you're getting off my dang lawn.

The last I saw it, the movie broke the color setting on my television.

ManateeGag: Necessary Roughness
Galaxy Quest
Clue

Necessary Roughness was an awesome movie. "He won because they played..." One of my favorite
Scott Bakula (sp) roles.

Galaxy Quest kicks ass too. I have it DVR'd and watch it frequently. Some movies I like just because
they are relaxing.

For some reason, several disaster films are on that relaxing / soothing list for me:

Day After Tomorrow
Dante's Peak
Twister

2013-06-07 02:07:35 PM
Aunt Peg

2013-06-07 02:13:23 PM
Airplane! and Airplane 2 of course, and most recently Wreck it Ralph. As someone who grew up in the late 70s & 80s, I thought that it was very well written. Loved the inside jokes that only adults would get. I hope they make a sequel.

Random Futerama episodes.  I've probably watched the entire series a half dozen times through at this point, it's the standby "I need to fill 20 minutes of time and don't want to pay close attention but want something happening" show, and also the "just want to be able to laugh stupidly at fry getting hurt" show.

/not a movie I know
//definitely not Jurrasic Bark though for the lift needing

When I learned that my best friend had cancer I went home and crawled back in bed to hide.  "The Birdcage" was on...great escape for a couple of hours.  "The Princess Bride" would probably have worked as well.
