And this is news, why?

While I have plenty of reasons to complain about Governor Patrick the shelter in place order is not one of them.  I can understand his concern about what people would think about the order.  Would have been a tough decision to make.  I'm glad that he put public safety ahead of this reputation.  That's what leaders are supposed to do.

He did it earlier this year during the blizzard.  He ordered all cars off the roads so that plows could keep up with the falling snow and rescue crews weren't unnecessarily put at risk or spread too thin trying to pull people out of wrecks.

As someone who didn't vote for him I have to give him credit.  He doesn't shy away from hard decisions, even when it could negatively impact him politically.  In both the blizzard and the bomber search no deaths or serious injuries to anyone but the two bad guys.

Can't say I blame him.

Where's the HERO tag?  He did what a lot of people did, and wasn't so consumed by MADD-induced shame/PC that he couldn't talk about it.

Good for him.

Only 8?  You know how many Irish vote in Boston?  Sometimes I think the only reason Mitt was voted Governor of Mass. was because Sam Adams put out a new seasonal on election day.

/I didn't get drunk that day 'cause I was too busy following the threads on Fark (I only put one badge up, but I think I have legit claim to three)

OK fine - in what ways did Patrick's performance before and during the Boston marathon incident indicate he was drunk?

Oh, so you want a guy with weapons just roaming around while the police just...sit on their hands and down some Sam Adams?  Is that what you wanted?

Not being a heavy handed authoritarian thug=nothing? That's rich.

How bout this: put cops two to a car since they've getting shot at and put some extra patrolmen on the subway stations. Smear the dudes picture everywhere and let people go about their day. You know, a reasonable response to a fugitive who's basically a teenager with a pistol and some garage grenades.

Yes, something totally unrelated to the lockdown and door to door sweep to which I voiced objections DID result in the capture if the suspect. I'm glad we could reach agreement on that fundamental point at least.
