Whoo hoo! I'm in before someone says Whedon sucks!

Whedon does not, I assure you, suck.

Buffy and Angel were good. After that Whedon had fallen in love with himself so hard....he became the Whedon version of Seth MacFarlane. Very self congratulatory, very pleased with his own stuff and very formulaic in his writing.

Ok Whedon fans, this is why people hate us.

I never got into BUFFY, ANGEL or DOLLHOUSE.  For some reason, though, his painfully meta-aware style
and stagy dialog helped make FIREFLY/SERENITY fun, probably because the setting was so utterly divorced
from the real world that it seemed much more natural in that environment.

(I discount THE AVENGERS because of my pre-existing love of the characters, and DR. HORRIBLE because
no one could make NPH look bad).

I liked Dollhouse. Once I got past the first five eps where the network insisted on pure MOW standalone stores. And I didn't like, or buy, the reveal of the big bad at the end. Though I suppose that was forced on them by the cancellation. At least they did try to tie up the story.

/Wish Sarah Connor Chronicles had had the same chance.

That was a particularly clever piece of internet fluff.  I especially enjoyed the Malthus comment.

Dollhouse killed Sarah Connor Chronicles, they had enough money for one and chose poorly.  The first couple of episodes of season 2 dollhouse were the worst in the series by far (seriously lactating? WTF)

Fox said at the time it wasn't "one or the other". What killed TSCC was that it was made by WB and cost too much while Dollhouse was made by Fox and cost a lot less. Also IMHO TSCC had a serious slump in the middle of S2 that just went nowhere and was boring as hell. The end of the season got far better but it was too late.

Dollhouse took a major upturn when it was canceled, too.  The first four or so episodes of each season were crap, and the rest varied from good to great.

^That.  And this is from a guy who tries to convince friends and relatives to watch  Dollhouse.

Seriously, you should watch it.

Just watch it on Netflix. It has everything.

Josh Whedon's biggest problem is that he starts off slow, every dam show starts off with a slow build up. By the time die hard fans get to the payoff the ratings have taken a dive into the dirt and the show is cancelled.
He should write two seasons of every show and start with the second season for the first 13 episodes then work in the first episodes of the the first season as flashbacks.

Firefly started out with a great first episode. That Fox didn't air until after they'd cancelled the series...
Dollhouse also had a good first episode. That Fox told Whedon to scrap and make a simpler episode...

Notice a pattern here?
