MythDragon: ongbok: Wow. I'm surprised the police went that far to investigate this.Roomate had someone break into her old house. She noticed a partial handprint on the glass next to the door, and pointed it out to the cops. They said "With all those prints on there, there is no way we could get a match, sorry." They took a report and left. On a whim, she scrubbed the class clean so there was nothing left on it. A couple of days later, her house got broken into again. This time a full on hand print. Fingers, thumb, everything. All there by itself. She points it out again to the cops who tell her "Sorry, but it's not enough for us to get a match off it." She says "It's a farking full handprint! What else do you need?" Cop says "ehhh...not enough of the fingers there. Nothing we can do" It had the full finger print, it just wasn't rolled. (who would do that anyway?)I installed a CCTV system for a autoshop. One day they had a break in and the guy stole some radios or something. They had a nice clean picture of the guy looking up into the camera. The cop shows up, sees the guy, says "Well....I don't know who that is, so I can't do anything. If you see him again, just give us a call"See, tracking down 'petty' crime doesn't net the department money. It costs money. That's why cops need to hurry up and get done with your stupid report about your stupid door being kicked in and all your electronics stolen, so they can get back to writing tickets to afford those new Chargers.
Fade2black: Uh, as a plumber that deals with copper scrap...I can tell you right now that DNA test cost much more than the copper that was stolen. If you completely gut a house, you *might* get $100. Soldered copper is worthless.
