Hunter said in June 2012 that she and Edwards had split up.

Awww, I hadn't heard that. Now I'm all sad.

Awesome hair joke. Hard to believe it's 2004 already

He should do well.  It's usually only the GOP that exhibits Edwards' level of follicular control.

Just make a joke about Rick Perry being an investor (and also a client) and get on with your life.

/be funnier than that, though

I hope his offices don't have carpeting.  Most fibers can't handle Jabba-the-Hut-like ooze for extended periods of time.

I can't believe he was acquitted of corruption charges.

When you spend money on personal things donated by others and you intend to hold public office, that's bribery.  I'm no fan of the way our campaign finance laws work, but this was clearly a step beyond to outright bribery(though the jury didn't think so).

Bribery requires quid pro quo, Clarice.

Yeah, and that's retarded, considering how much pro quo our system constantly generates "accidentally."

Might be because what he did was ridiculously scummy on moral grounds, but didn't violate the campaign finance laws they tried to prosecute him under. The prosecutor was a Jesse Helms protege, the prosecution was a partisan hack job. Obama didn't replace the guy as prosecutor per standard practice explicitly because he didn't want to look like he was protecting Edwards on political grounds.

Oh by the way, that scumbag political hack prosecutor is now the US Representative for NC's 13th Congressional District.

Edwards is a jackass with an ego the size of Saturn, but the prosecution wasn't warranted.

I live in NC and pay attention to state politics, so trust me that I hate every single republican in the state.  Edwards used campaign funds for personal reasons.  I don't care if it violates the letter of the law, it's a direct subversion of democracy, and I have absolutely zero sympathy for anyone who does that.

He was accused of using campaign funds for personal reasons. He very well may have. But the jury found that he didn't.

Look, the guy is a pretty disgusting example of politician-kind, but please recognize that accusations that get flung around in politics and in media aren't always true- and OJ verdict this ain't.
