ikanreed: I can't believe he was acquitted of corruption charges.
182: ikanreed: I can't believe he was acquitted of corruption charges.corruption? what as a senator did he do to sellout his position? you mean breaking campaign finance laws....which are a sham.
ikanreed: When you spend money on personal things donated by others and you intend to hold public office, that's bribery.
Lenny_da_Hog: ikanreed: When you spend money on personal things donated by others and you intend to hold public office, that's bribery.Bribery requires quid pro quo, Clarice.
cptjeff: ikanreed: I can't believe he was acquitted of corruption charges.Might be because what he did was ridiculously scummy on moral grounds, but didn't violate the campaign finance laws they tried to prosecute him under. The prosecutor was a Jesse Helms protege, the prosecution was a partisan hack job. Obama didn't replace the guy as prosecutor per standard practice explicitly because he didn't want to look like he was protecting Edwards on political grounds.Oh by the way, that scumbag political hack prosecutor is now the US Representative for NC's 13th Congressional District.Edwards is a jackass with an ego the size of Saturn, but the prosecution wasn't warranted.
ikanreed: Edwards used campaign funds for personal reasons.
