Hope her recent suicide attempt doesn't get in the way.

Or the fact that she's 15.

Snapper Carr: If it does end up being Chiwetel Ejiofor I'll be very pleased despite the fact that I'll probably end up having to learn how to spell and pronounce his name without cheating.

We're going to be auditioning these actors here. First, Mr. Chewy... Chewat... Chuwhat-the-hell, let's just make him the next Doctor.

lasercannon: Fine, I guess I'll spoil the surprise. The next Doctor is going to be me. Yes, they finally went with an overweight American with no acting experience.

So an American Colin Baker?

Frankie Boyle.
Dawn French.
Eddie Izzard.
Rowan Atkinson.
Stephen Fry.

Hell, if he's a real Time Lord get Peter Cook or Basil Rathbone.

hogans: If it's going to be a black Doctor, I'd love to see Colin Salmon.

Well people are wondering because he was written out of Arrow really quickly.

As long as they don't go female.  I hate genderwap, it's like bad fan fiction (I'm looking at you, "Joan" Watson).  So just as well I never saw the original BSG.

/But currently he's filming with Benedict Cumberbatch

I thought it was fairly clear that Hurt is the next doctor.  You know, what with being introduced as The Doctor and all.  It says something when 11 doesn't consider him The Doctor, but the writer (God) does, don't you think?  Something like that is not unintentional.  I'm probably being to linear in the wibbly wobbly time stream though.

On a semi-related note, I thought the episodes with souffle girl were much more enjoyable than the ones with the biatchy, angry red head that was only into her guy when it gave her the emotional upper hand. Souffle girl is likeable and fun enough for it to feel like Who again.  I wish she had been Smith's primary companion.

You mean like how it was fairly clear that David Morrissey was going to be the next Doctor because he was the main character in an episode called "The Next Doctor" right at the end of David Tennant's run?

I actually think it's clear from the dialog in the episode that John Hurt is  not "the next Doctor," but rather the Doctor who ended the Time War by doing something necessary but so terrible that Eccleston, Tennant and Smith would prefer to forget him, but can't.

I really want it to be Joel Hodgson.  He could treat the recurring mechanical baddies with the disdain they deserve.

Damn it, I knew I missed something, but I was so jazzed by the story that...well, one thing led to another and...there ya go.

Oh, and I'm subby, by the way.

Should have been obvious, really.

As to the story: I want an older, more dignified Doctor. SOmeone who goes back to the Jon Pertwee, gentleman scientist days.

Seems to me just a month ago the news was everywhere that Matt Smith was coming back for the 8th season. Now they're saying he's not. I think it's maybe a stunt and he is coming back.

Which is exactly why, while I'm somewhat preparing myself for his departure, I'm also not going to accept it until it happens.

Moffatt is the very definition of Trolling Creator. He'll mess with the fans, feed them JUST enough info for them to make crazy Wild Mass Guesses, and then say something that points out his Exact Words. (Why, yes, I am a Troper.)

I'll tell you one thing the next Doctor will NOT be: Fat.  There will never be a fat Doctor.

So then why was Mel trying to get Six to thin down?

No...no, it's always been John Barrowman.

Ohhhh yeah. I got that backwards. I was remembering the thread in which Farkers had some fun 'shopping "the original incident":

brigid_fitch: My write-in campaign for Idris Elba started on Monday.

Idris Elba would be good, but I would prefer Chiwetel Ejiofor. He was excellent in Shadow Line. A side effect of being cast as the Dr would be that more Who fans would watch Shadow Line and it deserves to be watched.

// Also, after you've seen the ending, go back and rewatch the first scene with the policemen and the car.
// Count the actions, compare with the end scene.

// SPOILERS:
// The police officer mimics shooting, but he mimics the wrong number of shots for the murder scene - he mimics the right number for the final shooting - showing that he knows the fate of the character before it all starts, because he's seen it before.
