Seen the documentary on swingers.  Even think I saw it in the theater.

"Parents" is obscure?

The "Up" series is obscure?  Huh?  Its one of the most aclaimed projects in film history.

This film was nearly destroyed, before the producer (I think) found the last copy. It's one of two movies that have played Canne twice.

My list:

1) Shooter - a Mark Wahlberg flick that should've been more well-known but didn't catch on.
2) Tears of the Sun - should've been a more popular movie but didn't catch the right wave either.  Bruce Willis in Africa, enough said.
3) Fog of War - someone else recommended it, definitely informative and eye-opening.
4) Equilibrium - good concept, decently polished, worth a Netflix viewing, but not a first-run theatre viewing.

It's a shop. It won a competition for "sequels that should be made", just beating out some shops of wished-for Matrix movies and a 3rd Godfather film. If there had been a Highlander sequel, I'd have a memory of it.

Feeling a bit hipsterish, so I'll share with you what I would consider a must see.  Although I believe alsmost all Fritz Lang movies are must sees, this is my personal favorite.

Forbidden Zone was a crazy film to watch. Imagine an old black and white Looney Tunes or Disney cartoon from the 1930s or 40s where things weren't so politically correct. Then make it darker, throw in Danny Elfman as Satan and providing the soundtrack, Hervé Villechaize as a king, and a topless princess prancing around.

I must have watched "Parents" a couple of dozen times back when they played in on cable. I think it's some of Randy Quaid's best work.

I stumbled across a good movie on Netflix a couple of months ago called "Safety Not Guaranteed". It's was a surprisingly good film. I highly recommend it.

The_Sponge: Hipster list is hipsterish.

Old list is old?

Saw John dies at the end. I don't know, guess this would be the crowd that watches it but no one else. Pretty good.

Good list. Some I haven't seen. Shivers and Stroszek are a couple of my favorites. Shivers specifically is one of a handful of truly great horror movies ever made.

Just off the top of my head, I'd add these two:

I don't think this movie was released on VHS or DVD until 2005 or so, and even after that it fell in and out of print. Incredibly depressing and amazing, with an ending that people who need movies to "end" with everything wrapped up in a bow will hate.

The fact that this movie is called a "comedy" on its promotional posters is completely baffling to me. I think it's one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen about addiction of any kind, gambling or otherwise.

Another great movie it seems like no one's ever seen. My favorite boxing movie ever.

I know I haven't been able to hear Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White for a couple of decades without thinking of Parents.
