Usually, beer doesn't interfere with my calls until I'm drunk dialing.

Lord, beer me strength.

oh hey guys, on my cell phone pulling into Drew's driv---- *signal lost*

2013-06-04 08:48:47 PM
It wasn't my beer!  I ran out and checked just to be sure.  Okay, so I brought one back in with me...

Good. I hate having my beer drinking disturbed by some asshat talking on his cellphone.

I am now hauling a Kegerator into every movie theater, Subway car, public park and, well, everywhere I go, so I can get a little peace and quiet.  A frosty draft beer.

Is there anything beer can't do?

2013-06-04 09:46:43 PM
So... shut up and drink?

2013-06-04 09:52:01 PM
If I could turn down wine.
If I could find whiskey.
I'd take back all those cans of pale ale
and you'd stay.

Yes... beer has caused a few network outages at my office too.

And a dubiously accurate food blog, and oh-so-painfully hip and ironic sandwich Monday on the not-as-funny-as-it-used-to-be Wait Wait Don't Tell Me site. They're all trying to be Ira Glass...who is turning into Bob Edwards, who is hopefully enjoying a bottle of bourbon, right now.

Beer or phones? The choice should be obvious.

The incident has sparked discussion , where comments ranged from discussion of "how dodgy does a motor have to be" to disrupt the network,

How dodgy does the cell network need to be to be disrupted by a beer fridge?

How sad that it was full of Australian beer. Even Canadian piss-water is preferable to that swill.

I am wondering how easy it would be to build a portable RF jammer.

Actually, I'm assuming these already exist.

Yeah, some of it's good, XXXX is crap, Tewies new is awful, TED is worse. I like Boags Draught on hot day, but mainly the microbrew stuff from WA (Gauge, etc) was the best (Coopers Extra Best Stout is really good too)

vudukungfu: ATM Machines?

Yeah, people say it's not a real word, but let me use it in a sentence: "Once Sandra had finished four fourth vodka and tonic and dropped E she was an ATM Machine."

"There's no particular focus now on beer fridges," he added.

Thank God there's no organized persecution.

sloshed_again: What low frequency are they on that a fridge shuts them down.

It was caused by a motor producing a spark. A spark can produce broadband noise and there's a lot of stored energy in a motor. I would guess tho that by a happy accident a lot of the RF power transmitted during the intermittent spark was concentrated around 850 MHz.
