Look, Weiland had 10,000 chances, but he's screwing over the band because he can't manage to stay "less drunk" for a two hour concert.

I'm all for him getting his royalties from album sales, but if the farker can't stand up and warble off-key for an hour or two then the rest of the band is within its rights to get a new singer.

Bad band agreements lead to Van Halen, and this monstrosity:

Search Eddie Van Halen drunk and you'll get even more miserable videos.  But if you need any proof, just look at Van Halen now.

The Downfall: Chester left Linkin Park?

I don't think so, or there would have been a couple of headlines about it.

I like the Marq Torien idea...almost.

But come on boys...Chester?? Don't bother touring--my three tickets will go to some other band that can get their shiat together. I love the Deleo brothers, but STP simply isn't STP without Scott's vocals and persona.

Please try again.

Kool & the Gang just performed Fan Jam after the Pittsburgh Pirates game on Saturday.

Although it was an entertaining show, I'm pretty sure it's not "Kool" and only like 2 of the original "Gang" left!

The Downfall: Chester left Linkin Park?

No I don't think so but Chester has never been a big player in the Linkin Park world. Most of that has been run by Mike Shinoda, kind of like how NIN is pretty much all Trent. Mike writes all the music and then has his buddies show up and finish everything out and tour.

If anyone wants to hear the new STP single with Chester, called Out of time, here is a link

yeah i don't hate it either and a friend of mine who is a die hard STP fan actually expressed interest in the track and says he has no problem with them kicking Scott to the curb for the way he has been acting.

Chester's voice always makes me think of that scene in Dumb and Dumber:

"Wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world? NYYYAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

Weird. I hate Linkin Park most because if Chester's annoying vocals but... That STP song was very palatable.

Queensryche is doing the same shiat. Geoff wants to use the Queensryche name to tour with, The rest of the band does too, along with a new singer. Last I heard it was still being hashed out in court.

I think it has a lot to do with the way the songs are arranged.  LPs rap-rap-scream-rap-rap-scream approach tends to get very old, and the way they always amp up the noise music when Chester sings doesn't help.  The STP song linked above has a much more even tone with the singing and music, so he doesn't come across as constipated with a vice on his nuts.

I remember reading something at some point that Chester had vocal lessons sometime after that big Linkin Park album in the 90s came out. If that sounds vague it's because I'm not sure I remember the story right. I may actually be thinking of Aaron Lewis now that I finish typing this out. If only there was some way to search information quickly through some large database.

Honestly, you might just want to form a new band.

While I fully agree that Weiland is an unreliable loser of a druggie, it's not STP w/out him.

When Chester Pennington "sings" he sounds like a preteen whose voice wont stop cracking.

Absolutely. Write some new material and go out on tour with a new name. People will know who they are and give them a shot.

It really depends how much weight the band carried as a whole.. Listening to that STP song w/ Chester it's clear to me who whore the pants in the band. The musicians themselves as it's strikingly very STP sounding still. The musicians in the band were also very identifiable.

Many people said it wouldn't be Alice In Chains without Layne Staley, but he was replaced and AIC put out one fark of an incredible album without him that was still very much was AIC. That's because Jerry Cantrell was a gigantic player in that bands success both vocally and musically.  Jerry is severely underrated and credited for that bands success.

And fark if I can't write a complete sentence tonight without misspelling and farking up shiat.

2013-06-04 11:56:07 PM
Didn't STP record a record w/o Weiland on vox?

Oh yea, nobody cared.

I look at it this way, if Weiland's behavior was different, if he was a different person than he is, we wouldn't have the vocal performances and songs we have today.

I've played in and toured with bands.  It's a crazy industry to be involved with.

Anyway, too bad - i was hoping for more great records from STP.

Inever bothered checking out the news AIC records other than watching some concerts on TV.  I'll have to check it out.  Still crushes me the way Staley checked  out.  he was truly amazing.

That was better than I thought it was going to be.  I met the DeLeo brothers at  a concert and they took me backstage (I was lost in a convention centre and rode the wrong elevator up from the parkade).  Great guys.  They are much more deserving of success than that puke Weiland.
