Oh, yeah, we're here to dole out red meat to our conservative audience. We're not here to be fair and balanced. We're here to stir up the crazies, basically. We're here to stoke up anger in our conservative fan base and that's how we get ratings,

I was surprised that Bill O'Reilly writes pretty much his entire show, while being driven in from his house. Dictates it to a producer over the phone. It's funny that they have to tell Bill they are faxing over papers because he can't grasp remote printing.

Why do people need to be told that conservative celebrities are disingenuous assholes? It should be common knowledge at this point.

not that the above is reason enough to think her a non-harpy, but it's damned hard to make the concepts align without 'hey, she's just trolling' as the most likely answer.

FTFA: But John Cook, editor-in-chief of Gawker, called the sentence "preposterous" and suggested Manhattan district attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. was trying to curry favor with Fox and its powerful chairman, Roger Ailes. A spokeswoman for Vance's office declined comment. Fox representatives didn't return phone or email requests to talk about Muto.

Cyrus Vance Jr.? The son of the former Secretary of State under President Carter is now a Manhattan DA trying to curry favor with the Nixon aide. Nice.

Which brings up the interesting philosophical/moral/ethical questions: who is more evil, a gullible nutcase who murders a doctor, or a sikh, or a homosexual, or the person that makes money knowingly feeding their paranoia and bigotry, well aware from years of history statistically what is going to happen on a regular basis.

She's actually very open about it.  She's said many a time that she likes getting her opponents all worked up because it helps sell her books.

She disgusts me and I don't buy her books, but I have a certain level of respect for her ability to manipulate people.

Fun fact about right-wing looney love connections:

i dont' watch her but i'll see her in print from to time, or the semi-regular "you'll never believe what Ann Coulter said this time!" thread here....but yeah.  odd.  Bob has been asked about her going to shows and i recall one interview (fairly recently) where he said something like, "i've met her a few times, it takes all kinds, I guess."

but yeah....just picturing her with one of those dopey south american knit hats with the earflaps, walking around with a DIY shirt with "Miss U Jerry" on it, and devil sticks, and she's like, "who's got my heady extra?  any love for a NYC kid lookin' for a show?"  or walking by you whispering "boomers....boomers....gotcher boomers, man".  or with the malnourished pit bull.  sad.

Dude, it's an awesome story.  Bill-O was sued for sexual harassment by a producer.  At one point, he made a drunk call and told Ms. Mackris, among other things, that he would rub her down with a felafel thing.  (He meant "loofah."  Some genius made an oratorio out of the court documents.  (The singer actually sings the naughty language from the court document...so may be NSFW.)

I've been saying on Fark for years that Coulter is putting on a persona to sell books, haven't had alot of people disagree (some, but rare) but at the same time don't think I'd seen a single person outright agree with me either.  Then I come into this thread and it now seems common knowledge she is fake.  Weird.

I do consider her the worst of the bunch.  Hannity might be a simpleminded moron but at least he actually believes in what he says, I can disagree with his childish conclusions vehemently while at least respecting he stands for *something*.  Coulter has lowered public discourse to a level her extremist shtick is less marketable anymore because her craziness is now mainstream.

As is Glenn Beck.  He's a longtime radio guy.   Pretty sure his persona is just a character he developed.  Phil Hendrie was on Marc Maron's podcast and he went into quite a bit of depth of how Rush Limbaugh is a "character" that he created for radio.   Pretty amazing that a manufactured radio character now rules one of our political parties.

I'm sorry, it's hard to read that with your mouth-foam all over it.

Simple equation -- He works for Fox for 8 years and learns that everyone is a market for anger. He decides to quit, and goes to Gawker for a day, after which he's now a "mole" -- as if he'd been there for 8 years as a career with the entire intention of being a "good guy" and outing Fox's bias.

He will now sell the book to people who already knew that Fox was biased FROM WATCHING or READING them. The people who watch Fox will continue to watch Fox and no minds will be changed, The only difference is that a career anger-marketer will put a little bit of marketed anger in his own pocket.

This is like a book about a celebrity with anorexia. Duh -- We can see she's anorexic by the skull protruding around her eyes.
