Sigh, this is why we can't have nice things.  Like puffins. :(

Saw a bunch of them on a beach in Iceland last summer- they'd swoop over the water from burrows on cliffsides.  Really amazing birds.

H.R. Pufnstuff,
Who's your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuff
Can't do a little cause he can't do enough.

Once upon a summertime
Just a dream from yesterday
A boy and his magic golden flute
Heard a boat from off the bay
"Come and play with me, Jimmy
Come and play with me.
And I will take you on a trip
Far across the sea."

But the boat belonged to a kooky old witch
Who had in mind the flute to snitch
From her broom broom in the sky
She watched her plans materialize
She waved her wand
The beautiful boat was gone
The skies grew dark
The sea grew rough
And the boat sailed on and on and on and on and on and on.

But Pufnstuff was watching too
And knew exactly what to do
He saw the witch's boat attack
And as the boy was fighting back
He called his rescue racer crew
As often they'd rehearsed
And off to save the boy they flew
But who would get there first?

But now the boy had washed ashore
Puf arrived to save the day
Which made the witch so mad and sore
She shook her first and screamed away.

H.R. Pufnstuff,
Who's your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuff
Can't do a little cause he can't do enough.

H.R. Pufnstuff,
Who's your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuff
Can't do a little cause he can't do enough.

Is Fox legally obligated to throw in one of these reality based articles every so often to legally be able to use the slogan Fair and Balanced? I also notice they just swiped it from AP. Probably to keep their derp automatons from entering an infinite loop and asploding.

I want to get serious for a minute here. Puffins are a true natural resource. They are like the penguins of the north. Losing them would be a huge blow to the northern hemisphere ecosystem.

Don't kill puffins. Whether it's the deliberate hunting of their eggs or the inadvertent holocaust from the profligate burning of fossil fuels, we need to stop what we are doing to preserve these birds.

In a sense, they are the canaries in the mine. Except they are puffins, and the mine is the whole world. If they die, we die.

Don't let that happen. It's up to us humans to save ourselves. Save the puffins. Save the humans.

Seems like every commenter here missed the bigger story.  Fox News reported on something scientific.  Without denying science.  And it was related to global warming.

In all serious, protect the muffins, people. They're the fragile, less-popular version of the cupcake.

You should worry more about the bee die-off.  No bees = no pollination.  No pollination = no more plants.  No more plants = no more food.  No more food = starvation.  Starvation = dead humans.

CSB time.

A few years ago, maybe June 2007, my wife took me for a "Puffin Cruise" in Maine.  It's basically like whale watching, but for puffins.  It was a lot of fun.  Saw quite a few of them.

Anyway, we get back to land, and the puffin cruise people have little comment cards to fill out.  My comment was "Saw puffins in flight.  Afternoon delight!"

I'm just hoping I gave a quick laugh to the poor guy who has to type those comments in to the database.

I challenge everyone to go out today if it's nice in your area and look for honey bees on any flowers. I haven't seen any yet this spring in SW Michigan.
