I stopped watching after Harmon left as I read the show became a hot mess. Did the show suck?

As someone who watched this season try to be a Camp Version of Community (in the Sontag sense) and try too hard, I welcome this return to a real, from the heart weird.

More misses than hits, but there's still 4 or 5 episodes of season 4 that are worth watching.

I thought last season had some strong episodes.  Paranormal Parentage, Conventions of Space and Time, Herstory of Dance, Intro to Knots, and Heroic Origins were as good as any of the best episodes from the earlier seasons.  Intro to Felt Surrogacy, the high concept/mixed-media episode for this season, could have been a lot better.  It was enjoyable, but it didn't quite click as well as it could have, that was the only one where the absence of an experienced hand running the show was really obvious.

The overall tone was a little bit different, and there was a Chang subplot that didn't really go anywhere, but I think the reason a lot of it fell a bit flat was because the season was shifted way back, so all of the holiday episodes didn't fall anywhere near the holiday they were supposed to be about.

If this comes true, yes.

I thought Season 4 was quite good. But then again, I may be suffering from Changnesia.

It sounds like just a picture in picture of his face, I want him to record full commentaries for the season.

I just got farked over by clicking the Featured Partner link below this one which was a frustrating waste of time. Since I had no one to complain to, or anywhere to turn where a possible explanation may be provided by community fellows, I am posting my protest here.

"Basic Human Anatomy" - Jim Rash's script - was the most like the old Community, with the weirdness masking an emotional punch, and the weirdness actually turning out not so weird at the end. I'd like to see more writing from Rash, and a bit less over-the-top Dean moments.

Wasn't there speculation of Star Burns being an ex of Laurie from Cougar Town? The circumstances of his death were strangely parallel to one of Laurie's horrible ex-boyfriend stories.

Community has only been released on DVD, as far as I know.

It sucks. Holding out hope for a blu-ray box set when everything is said and done.

that's pretty much my take as well. Honestly, I didn't think season 3 was all that great and I'm not convinced that Harmon would've made a better version of season 4; different, but not better.

I also liked the season finale of season 4 over any of the finales from the previous seasons.

So... that's pretty much EVERY Chang subplot. He was brilliant as a bitter Spanish teacher, and embarrassingly bad since (with the exception of his Drow Elf.)

Last season was brutal, but the slide started in season 3. We might get a memorable episode or two, but I suspect the best is behind us.

These.

There was also a lot more character growth than in previous seasons.

Best 20 seconds of television all year - hands down.  The Police in the background as the mayhem ramped up was perfect.
