Even if he was drunk, I imagine abandoning an injured 2-year-old in a truck crashed and dangling off a bridge carries a more severe penalty than a DWI would.  At least take the kid with you.

Was the person who wrote that article drunk?  Or was Toyota Tunder the name of the suspect?  Does Toyota even make a "Tunder"?

They generate this web content by using the same software that does closed captioning.  It's a voice recognition system and it has problems.

San Diego Fire-Rescue Department was called to Jefferson and Rosecrans Streets around 8 p.m. after witnesses said Toyota Tunder pulling a jetski was dangling off the edge of southbound I-5 near Old Town.

Chinese knockoff.

A witness told California Highway Patrol officers that a man ran from the crash and a 2-year-old child was left strapped inside the dangling vehicle.

Illegal leaving an anchor-baby?  I thought California did everything to protect illegals instead of actually enforcing the law like Arizona.

Hold on a sec.  Driver wrecked the vehicle and ran from the scene with the 2 year old dangling out the window.  Then, along comes a "hero" (according to the eyewitness) who unbuckles the child who then plummets to the pavement below.

Hero?  Who unbuckles a child that is dangling but still restrained and relatively safe?  Asshat more than a hero I say.

While he's probably just retarded, its also entirely possible this was a tried and true drug smuggler who was using the water craft and someone elses kid as cover.  When he crashed.. fark it, im an evil dude anyhow, grab the drugs and run.

The link I posted said the driver returned, unbuckled the kid, the kid fell, and the dude took off running again.

OK.....the driver returned and unbuckled the child.  The witness misidentified the "hero."

Upon impact, a child sitting in a car seat was partially ejected from the vehicle. Witnesses told NBC 7 they could see the child hanging out of the window following the crash.

"I started screaming 'There's a baby in the car, there's a baby in the car,'" Veronica Simmons said.

According to CHP officials, the driver took off running immediately following the crash, but then returned to the scene to unbuckle the child from the vehicle.

CHP Officer Juan Escobar said the child fell on his back and hit the concrete curb.

Simmons described the moment the baby dropped from the wreckage, "The baby just, it just fell, it just 'Boom!' It was the most awful sound you want to hear."

The driver then got scared and took off running, according to CHP.

She and other witnesses were upset and concerned for the child.

"It's very traumatic," Melissa Middleton said. "The worst part is the parent took off."

The child was taken to a local hospital. Escobar estimated the child was a boy and approximately 5 years old.

So the child is somewhere between 18 and 60 months of age, and either a boy or a girl, and was either trapped in the car or a) unstrapped by a stranger or b) unstrapped by the driver.

Got it.

I'm starting to doubt any of this even happened.

Well, she never actually saw a penis, so she had to use her deductive reasoning to give an estimation of the gender.

well they keep changing the entire story. First it was a girl, then a boy. First 18 months old, then estimated at 5 years old. First it was a Toyota Tunder (lol), now it is a Nissan Titan. First it was driver ran off and left child dangling, then it was driver ran off and someone came over and released the child, now it is the driver ran off and returned to unbuckle the child who fell about 10 feet and was injured and then the driver ran off again.
