It's amazing what you can accomplish when you aren't wasting time trying to get laid.

I once saw this video with a sexy Japanese woman...you should have seen what *she* could do with a yo-yo.

At least I think it was a yo-yo...

Most people wouldn't mistake an octopus for a yo-yo. I'm impressed.

One thing I absolutely admire about the Japanese is how they can take anything at all, refine it to razor sharpness and turn it into a technical artform.

Sometimes it ends up soulless and sometimes it ends up really farking cool.

So what does Farker Augie Fash have to say about this?

Impressive, sure... but Augie's a master.

The guy who came second must have been really crap

I can see the skill and practice this took but I can never tell what they are doing.

Seems like the same technique done over and over and over.  "Look, i can make a triangle with the string and bounce the yo-yo from string to string"...."Look, i did it with a bigger triangle this time!"

Check out my yo yo, ma!

chewielouie: Needs a better soundtrack.

While the music could have been better I really enjoyed the way he timed his routine to fit the pauses. Great showmanship!

And the stuff like the jump at 1:58 or so makes me want to see someone like this guy "take it to the next level". He looks like he could actually combine a yo-yo trick into a wushu or parkour move.

He suffers from the same closed-in posture that Japanese street dancers suffer from. Elbows are way in, shoulders are hunched over. While the moves are lightning fast, and surely the technical proficiency needed to reach that level of precision must be tremendous, the overall impression is that he is a really good amateur without the chops to take it to the next level.

At some parts he seems to forget where the audience is and he turns his back and does tricks that the audience can't see. If this is the best in the world, there seems to be quite a bit of room for improvement in the showmanship aspect of the act.

I've always been a better coach than player.

Not to mention his sharp knees.
