I doubt anyone will try to kill him

The shippers took a risk that they knew could backfire. They were more worried about maintaining their anonymity rather than insuring their package would be delivered 100%. Killing someone who called the police because he got a strange package in the mail tends to peak the interest of the DEA and FBI who really dont like dead bodies. Killing the people of the home would just bring so much heat upon them that it would be more fruitful to count their losses rather than try to get the money back.

Dog sitter ruined everything!  I'm guessing the people behind the operation knew there was no one home until late at that house, so they deliver things there during the day and have someone pick it up before anyone gets home.  Just didn't anticipate a dog sitter showing up that day.

Why would he think it's a good idea to let the media attach his name to this?  Area man would have been just as good a story.  I would think he'd sell it to a dispensary but I'm guessing high level legal growers dont randomly ship weed to unaware peoples houses.  Probably $50 a lb weed grown in a ditch in Mexico not $25-40 an 8th mind eraser.

If you read the article, you can see he's very worried about the "fine upstanding folks" who own that pot coming to look for it.  24K isn't a small some for most people, especially petty crooks.

His hope is that by reaching out to the media he can get the word out they'll know he doesn't have it and leave him alone.

2181 a pound? Pffftt.... I assume that's the price based on the street price at a gram, multiplied up to equal a pound. In real life, when you buy in large quantities like a pound (and even compressed, 11lbs in a box had to be pretty big) it's at bulk prices, so more realisitically if sold as pounds, it would probably be closer to 16,000 than 24,000 dollars

The shippers used a random return address.  Nobody's coming to ice Narkbert McTrembly.

If that is high grade medicinal marijuana,I could move that pretty easily.  That is only $136 per lb.  shiat, I wish I could have those prices.

So, I am I wrong? It seems the only way they got busted was because the cops were called. Otherwise they would have 12 lbs.Sounds like a story from 20 years ago. I thought all the mail and FedEx and UPS were routinely searched nowadays.

Of course, they may not say they were on to it. I don't know.

And 12 lbs? The Mom from Arizona in that other story was accused of transporting 11 lbs. Those numbers seem too close together to be a coincidence. Is that some common amount, It is about 5 kg. Or is it an amount that fits in a suitcase or something?

Man I am old. I can remember 10 lbs of Colombian was $3000; Mexican was $1000

That or worried the police might bust down his house and shoot him and/or his dogs.

Brick weed is $300-500/lb at the border.  I hear.

Generally, domestic ground shipments are not checked.  Air shipments can be checked but in reality arent, or its an automated system looking for explosives.. not pot.

$137/ounce. That seems... low, actually. Someone's Police Math was off by a decimal point or two.

Actually, yes...

/Though, if the package contains illegal drugs, keeping that is likely to get you into trouble for other reasons than keeping a package you didn't order...

Yeah, I wouldn't be keeping that around either. And I'd request a few extra police drivebys. Or maybe I'd just turn my house into a fortress, complete with 50 Cals and booby traps, maybe a pit bull with AIDS or two. I'd wear a WWI Kaiser helmet and just stay inside, plotting, scheming......

I used to work at a fedex sorting facility. Packages aren't searched, at least not in the sorting facility I worked at. The only time a package's contents would be seen would be if the box broke on the conveyor belts, which might only happen to a couple packages out of thousands.

That's the best way to get rid of evidence.

No evidence = no evidence = no trial = no conviction.

Simples.

/Off to get rid of some more evidence.
