There was a bear vs vehicle accident in my area recently. Unfortunately, the bear did not survive.

Honda Accord vs bear

Often times wild animals get up right away from car collisions and run into the woods. People think the animals are fine, but they usually die. They're running on pure adrenaline / flight response. That bear might've lived but it was not going to be ok.

I should mention... if Fark did change their code to fix it (assuming YouTube didn't change something again), THANKS for now having the ability to full-screen YouTube videos once more.

I know of another Acord that recently made headlines in your area.

Damn kid's house in North Albany is only a ¼ mile from my parents' place.

And in America, sometimes you get arrested for shooting the bear that's about to eat you up in your own back yard...

I wish I hadn't watched that. Made me sad. That bear didn't dash into the woods because he/she was okay, it dashed into the woods to slowly, painfully die from internal injuries.

Ugh.

We've had two bears killed recently by vehicles in my city.  I'm not really getting a kick out of this.

well, it's a few hours after my last post. and during that time, i ran over a small dog. :(
it wasn't my fault. it was off leash and i turned a very busy corner and it zipped right under my car. I could not stop in time (it was already under my car) and I broke its neck. died right away. no internal injuries, just neck snapped around.

the couple who owned him were young, like 20s, and they were homeless. the guy was a gardener and illegal; the girl spoke english well but both were quite grubby from living in their car. i gave them all the cash i had which was about all i could do... gave them about $80. also gave them one of my BDU jackets to wrap the doggie in. both were crying.

i felt awful, especially when they said "we don't even have anywhere to bury her."

I went back after I got home to give them some blankets and some gift cards that I've never used. they were gone.

And here I thought the video was going to feature an overweight hairy guy in a leather speedo doing a little dance.  I'm so disappointed.

Same happened to me - I was doing about 50 mph in an '88 Chevy K5 Blazer. Hit a moose. Right in the center line too. The moose got up and left. The police came by a little while later, they tried to look for it, but couldn't find it. The car wasn't going anywhere, the radiator was cracked in half, and all the coolant was on the road, so it wasn't a small collision.

This exact thing happened to me in 2006, except with more airbags and bear through the wind-sheild. Totaled my civic. Totaled the bear too, but it took quite a while to die. The whole thing was horrific, so Im really getting a kick...

I was driving in to work before dawn on a long country road when it suddenly felt like I had run over something, almost like hitting a speed bump too fast. I looked in the rear view and saw a black bear running into the woods. Got to work and saw he had run head first into my rear fender and put a nice dent in it with his noggin.
