Ricin in every school!

Seriously though, many of the gun nuts are sh*tting their minds out there.

I took up target shooting a few years ago and got in to it, so I hang out at a popular gun blog sometimes, and tend to roll my eyes a lot, but goddamn! Within a few posts someone will yell False Flag! and 10 others will chime in right behind him.

Face it, guys, while most gun owners are sane and sensible, there is a higher proportion of nutjobs among our ranks than the general population. That's the truth about guns.

Until the moderate gun owners stand up to police their own community and speak out against extremism, how are we to differentiate?

Where are the voices of reason in the second amendment community? Why aren't the leaders speaking out against militant Isl-... er, gun enthusiasm?

It doesn't matter that a few (gun owners/Muslims) have done monstrous things and hurt and killed a lot of people, here and in other countries.  They are not representative of the larger culture.  Every day millions of (gun owners/Muslims) go about their lives, working, playing, helping their community, never harming anyone.  True, there are some who take their cultural beliefs too far, threatening innocents and, rarely, acting on those threats.  They cannot be used as an excuse to take away the (2nd/1st) Amendment rights of an entire class of people, most of whom are entirely innocent and love this country as much as you or I.

It's like the left and the right aren't even trying to be different anymore.  Every policy maker is working from the same Mad Libs sheet...and in the beginning you fill out 'People you like' and 'People you hate'.

I suppose it's a side-effect of simple numbers; when you get up to 300 million people, a one-in-a-million nutjob will have.. about 299 or so friends.

I have a feeling that people's opinion on guns is related strongly to how much time they spend in crowded places. If you live in low-density 'burbs and rarely go anywhere busier than the local mall, you probably think they're great. If you spend a lot of time at conventions, arenas, and in metropolitan areas, you probably think they should stay home.

You'll find a lot of paranoid weirdos at a gun shop for sure, it is one of the prices we pay. Sometimes they're amusing, sometimes they make you worry.

One thing I've learned is they are all willing to screw each other over at the first available opportunity.

2 ricin letters in country full of gun nuts doesn't really establish a trend

It's kind of like frequent isolated incidents I suppose.

They frequently broadcast a desire to murder people that disagree with them on a narrow political point.

no, it's not really frequent at all when you consider the millions upon millions of gun nuts in the country.

Me too. I hunt, I like guns, but I can't stand the politics, paranoia, and general nuttery. Buying ammo:

Him: "Better get what you can before Obama comes to confiscate it."
Me: "Oh, fark right off already with that bullshiat."

When I renew my membership to my local shooting range, I get the year's social calendar along with it. Trap shoots, pot lucks, work days...no thanks, loons. I do not want to spend all day with you listening to second amendment paranoia. I just want to practice with my rifle and pistol and go home.

Its frequent enough thank you.

There is something about guns. Something they do to your brain. They become the most important thing of all to people who took them up as a hobby or just as a minor security thing or just because everyone does a bit of shooting in their social circle.. a couple of years later they are the center of your farking life and you are willing to talk about murder to keep them. it is farked up.

You know, that's one thing I have always been disappointed with in Pulp Fiction.  They never addressed what happened to The Gimp.

I always thought he died of asphyxiation. He has the gimp mask on and zipped up so his mouth can't open wide and the nose holes aren't exactly wide for full air flow. Then the gimp got knocked the fark out and his fat ass is slumping with the only thing holding him up is his neck and the dog collar chained to the roof. I always guessed his weight and the collar on his neck slowly choked him to death.

The really weird part about that movie? He's the only character that died happy. Think about it he's obviously a life long sex slave being kept in a full restricted bodysuit in a box in a basement. So far he's living his dream. Then the last thing his mind hears before loss of oxygen shuts his brain off, is a masculine sounding guy talk about getting some hard pipe hitting nubian's to show up and get to work on them. Right before he dies his brain is fantasizing about whats going to happen when some true tops/doms show up.  Just like the guy from INXS.

Yep.  Gave up on a number of gun laws / gun information listservs / websites / forums, seemed to all really go crazy around 10 years ago.

Moved to Texas two years ago, started to get back into shooting (lived in Jersey for the last 10 years).  The number of paranoid conspiracy theorists and retards is really damn annoying.  And due to the "OMG, OBAMA IS GOING TO BAN GUNS" idiocy, it's near impossible to get 9mm, .22, and a bunch of other common rounds.
