KNIGHT: There! Look! LAUNCELOT: What does it say? GALAHAD: What language is that? ARTHUR: Brother Maynard, you're our scholar! MAYNARD: It's Aramaic! GALAHAD: Of course! Joseph of Aramathea! LAUNCELOT: Course! KNIGHT: What does it say? MAYNARD: It reads, 'Here may be found the last words of Joseph of Aramathea. He who is valiant and pure of spirit may find the Holy Grail in the Castle of uuggggggh'. ARTHUR: What? MAYNARD: '... the Castle of uuggggggh'. BEDEMIR: What is that? MAYNARD: He must have died while carving it. LAUNCELOT: Oh, come on! MAYNARD: Well, that's what it says. ARTHUR: Look, if he was dying, he wouldn't bother to carve 'aaggggh'. He'd just say it! MAYNARD: Well, that's what's carved in the rock! GALAHAD: Perhaps he was dictating. ARTHUR: Oh, shut up. Well, does it say anything else? MAYNARD: No. Just, 'uuggggggh'. LAUNCELOT: Aauuggghhh. KNIGHT: Aaauggh. BEDEMIR: You don't suppose he meant the Camauuuugh? KNIGHT: Where's that? BEDEMIR: France, I think. LAUNCELOT: Isn't there a Saint Aauuuves in Cornwall? ARTHUR: No, that's Saint Ives. LAUNCELOT: Oh, yes. Saint Iiiives. SEVERAL: Iiiiives. BEDEMIR: Oooohoohohooo! LAUNCELOT: No, no, aauuuuugh, at the back of the throat. Aauuugh. BEDEMIR: No, no, no, oooooooh, in surprise and alarm. LAUNCELOT: Oh, you mean sort of a aaaagh! BEDEMIR: Yes, but I-- Aaaaagh! KNIGHT: Oooh! KNIGHT: Oh, no! [roar] MAYNARD: It's the legendary Black Beast of aaauuugh! ARTHUR: Run away! ALL: Run away! Run away!

When did "vandalism" become "tagging"?

2013-05-30 02:37:41 PM
The man, who the Cook County medical examiner's office has not identified, has been arrested seven times with criminal defacement of property or posession of paint or markers with an intent to deface property, police said.

They must REALLY hate vandals if they're willing to arrest a dead guy seven times.

As far as I can tell, "barbarians raiding the civilized places" is an accurate description of what happened.

Wellon Dowd: When did "vandalism" become "tagging"?

Many crimes have adopted non-crime-sounding euphemisms, especially those associated with minorities or the poor.

Vandalism is tagging, rioting is flash mobbing, illegal immigration is undocumented working, setting off bombs is "doing science experiments", etc...

19 is too old to be doing vandalism involving equipment and planning, getting blackout drunk and running through a sheetrock wall is still acceptable until you graduate college.

Of course not.   If you did, you might have to watch her 'act'.

Or you could do what Micheal Bay did, and make her wash your Ferrari in a skimpy bikini.

Meh,

There is a vast definitional difference between a flash mob and a riot. Just because sometimes the latter has taken up the networking of the former doesn't mean they equate.

This will teach those Uptown people from crossing over into my neighborhood (I actually live north of North Center, but whatever)

It's pretty simple.  I know you farkers like your maths, so look at it this way:
Tagging is a subset of vandalism.
Just like knifing is a subset of battery.
Just like rape is a subset of sexual assault.
etc.

HA...nice. Never saw the movie as I didn't want it to tarnish the Transformers I grew up with. All I really know is she has stumpy thumbs

I get your point- I really do. But you've gotta admit there's a difference. On the one hand, there's "I did something dumb".

On the other hand, there's "I did something dumb, got caught, paid a debt to society for doing the dumb thing, then did the dumb thing again, got caught again, paid another debt to society, did the dumb thing again, got caught again, paid another debt to society, did the dumb thing again, got caught again, paid another debt to society, did the dumb thing again, got caught again, paid another debt to society, did the dumb thing again, got caught again, paid another debt to society, did the dumb thing again, got caught again, and paid another debt to society."

One of these is showing a different learning curve than the other.

What do you mean?  He unlocked the final level in tagging.  What are the odds of another tagger covering up or matching his work?  This guy is king and got highest score, his legend is now recorded in FARK archives forever.  I say when that transformer wears out and the paint is still on it, we put it in a taggers hall of fame.  In the Darwin Achievement Unlocked section.

You're probably right. And while I did my share of stupid, dangerous things in my younger days, I can say with 100% honesty none of them were illegal.
