It's not for the first time, I visited the Mary Rose at Portsmouth on a school trip in 1989. it was still being sprayed with water then.

Mary Rose was a Carrack-type warship.  Only France's Trogdor-class frigates could best them in open combat.

i saw the vasa in stockholm as a kid. same deal - sprayed with water. now it's pretty much restored. amazing what they can do.
