(Investors Business Daily)   It's very common for an IRS commissioner to visit the White House 118 more times under Obama than previous administrations. No funny business there   (news.investors.com) divider line 101

Maybe if GWB had talked to the guy he put in charge of the IRS more than once he could have figured out that his tax cuts weren't going to increase revenues.

2013-05-30 12:37:11 PM
Sorry, GOP. After spending five years saying literally everything Obama did was the most scandalous thing ever, nobody is going to believe you about anything.

2013-05-30 12:39:16 PM
How about a comparison to more than just one other president, especially the most disengaged in modern history?

2013-05-30 12:47:58 PM
1) 118 is 117 *more* than one.
2) Mark Everson, who ran the IRS during most of the George W. Bush administration, from 2003 to 2007, apparently visited a single time, grousing that he felt like he had "moved to Siberia" because the tax collection agency was so out of the policy loop.

2013-05-30 12:50:54 PM
Oh, and:

But the Bush administration actually did some IRS revamping during its tenure, to "provide IRS with the modern tools needed both to deliver first-class customer service to America's taxpayers and to ensure that compliance programs are administered efficiently...

I wonder how one might do that...

2013-05-30 12:51:51 PM
Also, hasn't an independent report said this IRS scandal never even got to this guy's level? What's the connection here?

2013-05-30 01:03:54 PM
That chicken's ass is bleeding. Leave it alone.

2013-05-30 01:32:37 PM
maybe there's something to that whole obamacare being a tax thing afterall.....

i mean... BEGHAZI.

2013-05-30 01:45:18 PM
Gee, during an administration introducing a massive tax shift due to Obamacare, the head of the national tax management department went to talk to the guy in charge.

I'm shocked. Shocked!

2013-05-30 01:47:51 PM
Why not just ask him why he was there?  That should clear it all up.

I said the same thing about Jeff Gannon.

What if the answer doesn't fit the scandal narrative?

let's see...

• obama's major piece of legislation is the affordable care act, a massive law of massive import
• the ACA is enforced by the IRS
• it would follow then that the head of the IRS would probably have a shiatload of contact with the president during its formation and implementation.

also, the guy in question was a bush appointee, so it's highly unlikely that they were scheming to harass republicans. plus, if they WERE, do you think they'd do it at the WH, where every visit is recorded?

once again, republicans:

The GOP complaining about something that isn't worth complaining about? Huh... never would have seen that coming day after day after day after day after day after day... and so on.

It is almost as if there is something that requires the revenue departments input into policy...........Fark it.  Obummer is destroying the economy with his sequester.

why do you guys still call him BHO? do you think the whole hussein thing still strikes fear into the hearts of grandma and grandpa? or is it the dog-whistle reminder that he's the "other" - not quite like you or me. perhaps even from another land...

just curious.

btw, it'll be funny to watch you guys slobbering all over ted cruz - a canadian with a cuban mother - when he runs in 2016.

Do they think it took 118 meetings to decide to start looking more closely at TP non-profit applications? Or maybe, possibly, they had other things to talk about? This is a smear against Bush, not Obama.

no.... see this is a dogwhistle story because it reinforces the idea that the IRS is going after teabaggers at the behest of Obama and even though the visits are 100% unrelated to that and more to do with the role of the IRS in implementing the ACA, that doesn't matter because it ties together two data points in the heads of these nimrods and reinforces their previously held beliefs

He probably voted for Shrub too

I heard that Obama and the IRS commissioner played golf together once.

This just stinks to high heaven.  First, there are tens of thousands of federal employees, but suddenly Obama wants to spend over FOUR HOURS with the IRS commission?  I want to know exactly WHY they golfed together, and WHAT they were talking about.

Why won't they tell us?  Is it because they golfed together so Obama could ask the IRS commissioner to go easy on his campaign donors? So he could ask him to deny tea party 501(c)(4) applications?  Did they talk about Benghazi at all?   Was the IRS commissioner involved in a plot to fabricate Obama's birth certificate?  Also, isn't it suspicious that Obama golfed with the IRS commissioner during Ramadan, and then just weeks later a mosque (with connections to the muslim brotherhood) was granted tax exempt status?

WHY WON'T THE ADMINISTRATION ANSWER ANY OF THESE QUESTIONS?  WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO HIDE?!?!!

Also, right wing punditry has to be the laziest, easiest way to get attention and make a buck EVER.  You can just throw vapid, dumb shiat at the wall, mix in a few irrelevant facts, sprinkle in some foreboding language to scare your listeners, and BAM!  you will have bullshiat commentary  that your right wing listeners/readers will eat right up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Teabaggers are trying to destroy our nation by depriving it of revenue, and the president took an oath to defend the country, so he has to use avenues to ensure funding to prevent the collapse that the right wing desires.

He's a practical man.

His role is NOT policy, it is only implementation.
So it is entirely inappropriate to be at the White House so often.

It brings a new level of "What the holy hell?" when you realize that GWB saw the head of the IRS once in eight years...I realize that they may not have much to discuss, but...damn, even corporate CEOs go out to visit branch offices, and I assume these guys live/work in the same general metropolitan area, right?
