Buttknuckle: kindms: Vermont ? I'm pretty sure those guys are all living in NYC

Saw the Spin Doctors open for Blues Traveler a few months ago at the newly renovated Capitol Theatre in Portchester NY.

Chris Barons voice sounded great and he still has tons of energy for a front man. They were never a huge favorite of mine but they can play and have some good tunes.

Lead singers of Spin Doctors and Blues Traveler went to high school together.

Yeah, the lead singer of the Spin Doctors went to school with all of the Blues Travelers,  and was a member in an earlier  version of the band.    Blues Travelers, Spin Doctors and Joan Osborne (among others) were the regular house acts at the  Nightingale Bar in NYC in the late 80s/early 90s.   The band members would often inter-mingle and jam with one another during sets.   In 1992  John Popper later spun this scene into the HORDE Festival, bringing in Phish, Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews Band and other "jam" bands that giged with at various locations .   Which brought about the revival of the modern "jam band" scene .... for better or worse, depending on one's point of view.

I will gladly trade you the Spin Doctors for Phish.
Take them.
Every last smelly one of them.
And all their stinking fans, too.

Pocket Ninja: They should get together with the Rembrandts and Hootie and the Blowfish and do a Bands Who Were Featured On Friends Reunion Tour. That would ROCK.

Are you just looking for an excuse to go buy a new pair of Birkenstocks?

Holy crap, it's "Tennessee" Arrested Development.  A game of horseshoes!  (I saw that as P.J. Harvey for just a sec, too.)

In fairness, I think Screaming Trees blew A LOT of people off the stage back then.

Two Princes = Worst song of all time.  OF ALL TIME.

When you put out a good album, then some stinky albums, then a live version of your good album, then an acoustic version of your good album, then a dub version, then an anniversary version, then a tribute version, well, their credibilty is wearing thin.

Would you say they are, ahem, spinning the truth?

Churchy LaFemme: Two Princes = Worst song of all time.  OF ALL TIME.

What the fark are they saying? "I don't want your pretty little heart to be sad"?

They pissed me off after Little Miss Can't Be Wrong pissed off some feminist biatches (I was a feminist, but not a biatch about it). Spin Doctors came out and farking APOLOGIZED for the lyrics and explained that "we aren't saying ALL women are like this" blah blah. Bunch of farking wimps.

I could never listen to them after that. Or before that.

Went to Horde 98 north of Detroit. Met Ben Harper and the innocent criminals. They played an outstanding set. Saw the SD singer have a jam with some straglers on 2nd stage. One of the girls we went with flipped out when we decided to have beers in the lot instead of watch Barenaked ladies. She could not comprehend how we could not give a fu(k for them.

I saw The Screaming Trees open for Pearl Jam in 1994. They did not blow anyone off the stage that day.

Also i am listening to the new Spin Doctors record now. Not terrible, but average blues.

I'm still bitter that I lost my Spin Doctors cassette that I got for my birthday in 5th grade.  I have Cleopatra's Cat now on my iPod, but I've never gotten around to repurchasing the rest of their good tracks.

/gotta love it, that's my duty. . . she got a big fat funky booty

Heh, I'm actually seeing Gin Blossoms at Ravinia this summer. They're playing with Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, Vertical Horizon, and Fastball. I'm actually kind of excited. Especially for Fastball.

Fastball is great, Gin Blossoms were all right. But, Fastball is great.

This.  Their last record, Little White Lies, was fantastic.

The Spin Doctors get a bad rap for some reason, but I'm gonna come right out & say it... I like 'em. Good musicianship, catchy tunes... I've always liked their stuff. There was a lotta good music in the 90s.

I think the bad rap they got was because MTV had Two Princes on their rotation every 15 minutes for ages.  I blame MTV, it's easier.

I'd rather have Spin the World from the Royal Cresent Mob.
