Wait, is there a time when Canada DOESN'T sell maple syrup? Dark times, indeed.

Anyways, go Pacers. Though I haven't seen a minute of this series. I hear it's been gruesome.

We've seen superstars go down to a team before, hope it happens again.

if indiana goes up 3-2, the fix is in for game 6.  david stern will bring the zombie corpse of dick bavetta out to officiate that game if he has to.

Pacers will lose a close one here, win in Indy, and keep it close in Game 7 in Miami but ultimately lose the series.

Heat will be swept in the Finals.  (Pacers might be too even if they win this one.)

Winner tonight wins the series. I'd love for it to be the Pacers, but the Heat are most likely going to smoke them tonight.

It's the law of the league. The Bavetta taketh, and The Bavetta taketh away.

Breakdown according to history:

When teams alternate victories, the team that won games 1 and 3 usually wins game 5 (67% of the time) and the series (64%).
If the team winning games 2 and 4 win game 5, they win the series 79% of the time.

Roll players step up tonight and the Heat win a game that is never truly close. Not a blowout but they are consistently up 8-13.

How good would the Pacers be if Granger was healthy?

Define gruesome.

Hahahaha Steve Kerr, do you ever tire of being so wrong, so often? Yes, I'm sure players will care more about "grit" than trying to gain an advantage in this game.

2013-05-30 08:19:20 PM

Now That's What I Call a Taco!: How good would the Pacers be if Granger was healthy?

Not much; see, the problem with guys coming back is that you have to take minutes away from other guys so that guy can play. Who are they going to remove if they put Granger in? He'd be in George or West's spot, but they're sure as hell not taking minutes away from those guys.

/same argument was made for the Bulls with Hinrich/Deng. When you have a whole lineup-plus of guys that produce at a similar level...you don't gain a whole lot by getting another guy, just like you don't lose a whole lot if one of those guys gets hurt
//Granger's a great player, but he's not THAT valuable to a team like the Pacers
///though if he were playing Hansbrough's minutes, they'd obviously be better in those situations
////then again, you have to put Hansbrough on the floor in the hopes he gets someone else ejected

Tumunga: Define gruesome.

Average of 54 fouls per game called is pretty gruesome.

I think FIBA treat flops as technicals, that might get rid of the flopping epidemic.

anyone have a link to where I can watch the game? I saw one in a thread for a game last week.

BTW, this is pretty true - a reason flops can increase is the same reason that intentional fouls are more frustrating - any retaliation is treated as though someone was trying to commit murder. If you flopped before, then guys would give you a reason to fall down. Now that would get you a flagrant or ejected.

In the old days if people intentionally fouled you after a whistle, you could shove/punch them. Now if you do that you're ejected and suspended. It's like hockey criminalizing fighting leading to an increase in cheap shots.

Man, when you foul out and it's called The Foul Out Game, lol...

Alas, the Pacers still haven't signed the right one, LeBron's kryptonite:

You're aware that Wilt never fouled out in his career, Moses went 1700+ games without fouling out, Jordan never fouled out in a playoff game in his championship years, no Pacer has fouled out in this series...

If I'm Miami, I play physical as all hell, no way they would foul Wade or LBJ out of this game. Basically shove for any steal/board

2013-05-30 08:34:59 PM
Is it weird that I want Joel and Miller to get decent minutes in this game? Is it 2011?

Wade is tanking.

What a sloppy start.

I'm just pointing out that people acting as though rare foul-outs is unique to LeBron are f*cking retarded. Newsflash: Most of the time, people don't foul out often. They get taken out; they adjust their play; maybe even the refs call fouls on other guys involved in plays.

2013-05-30 08:38:20 PM
So if you hop up and down enough they'll change the call?

Nope. Anthony was semi-competent against Hibbert for a couple minutes. Throw him out there some more.

I would say they're not saying it's unique to LeBron, they're saying it's star treatment.  And all the examples you cited, except for the Pacers, were stars.

LeBron should be taking pointers from Mario right now. Wait, what?

Roy, you've got to make layups.  GOTTA.

Miami crowd is bored with this game already.
