Pink AND Australian?!?

That thing's got to be poisonous as all hell.  It probably pees a ricin-acid mix whose vapors melt human bones.

These would have looked WAY better on A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step.

This is annoying one of my pet peeves. OK, time for your science lesson for the day.

Poisonous: harmful if touched. Like poison ivy or a cane toad.
Venomous: used as weapon, like snakes, spiders, jellyfish, platapuses (platapi?) termites, etc.

Peeing acid would be venomous.

Boffins can't leave a peaceful hermit slug alone, got to come onto its lawn all a-peering at him.

Come to my party this weekend. You seem like you would be fun.

That's pretty cool. I wonder if it glows under black light?

Don't let the Chinese know about it, though. They'll decide it somehow stiffens schlongs and will poach it to extinction, like they've nearly done to the Rhino.

Australia, Natures' Pandora's Box. The critter is probably lethal as heck. Most of the species found there, especially bugs, seem to come equipped with bone dissolving, skin liquefying venom. Bright colors in the insect kingdom usually tend to act as a warning that the owner packs a nasty bite.

I read the article twice and then did a search for the word "poison" because I was expecting this very thing.

Except the question was (probably) about whether or not it was harmful if touched, and the bit about peeing was just hyperbole, in which case his usage of "poisonous" was entirely correct.

So don't you feel dumb now?

/As it happens, my pet peeve is people who try to be Grammar Nazis and get it wrong.

Venom can only be injected via fang, stinger, or spine.

Poison can be ingested through touch, inhalation, eating.

Since the person you are replying to referenced touching and inhalation, poison would be the preferred term. Also, Ricin is a poison.
