hmm yes and perhaps Libertarians should finally focus their outreach efforts on white males age 22-28 who own multiple fedoras and pairs of jorts

What the hell is wrong with that woman?

#1 - they might vote for you if you stop demonizing them.  Are they going to vote for you today?  Probably not.  I will concede that.  Will they vote for you tomorrow if you stopped treating them like dirt?  You might have a shot.

#2 - You're at Peak White People, lady.  The demographic you want to court is shrinking.  Regardless of how many of them voted for Romney or not, the available pool is evaporating.

It's like "drill baby drill" for white voters.  Nonsense.

I want a politician who cares about what I care about.  Mayonnaise sandwiches and long term financial planning. I want a politician who wears pleated khaki pants and calls them trousers.

Where are the politicians for me?

2013-05-29 03:23:37 PM
I hate to say this, but she's not wrong.  I mean, OK, the share of the white vote is going to inevitably shrink over time, but the GOP has been so bad at its outreach to minority voters that it doesn't really make economic sense to try to court them.  Wouldn't it make more sense for them to use the same resources to get out the voters who are marginally sympathetic to the Republican Party, rather than trying to carve out a new block of voters from demographics that are hostile to their cause?

I mean, in the long run they're doomed, but, hey, you gotta live for today.

What does Conservapedia have to say about it?

To be fair, she never really fully recovered after Garry Trudeau got done with her.

Granted, she wasn't in the best condition beforehand.

That woman is such a coont. At least they didn't mention she's from St.Louis.

"The propagandists are leading us down the wrong path," the activist remarked.

The funny thing is that she doesn't realize she's one of those propagandists leading them down the wrong path.

Phyllis Schlafly was relevant in 1975.

She's absolutely correct that most of the newly legalized voters will end up voting for Democrats, if they do at all.  It's a politically losing measure for Republicans.

On the other hand, there's more to life than politics, including sundry activities such as doing the right thing and treating other people humanely.

As a white man (yes, my user name is not based on my skin color), I can honestly say there is only one way the Republicans could get me to start voting for them: they could rename the Democratic Party the Republican Party.

2013-05-29 04:02:55 PM
That's another bit of clear evidence the GOP will die off. Hispanics are generally conservative and there are a lot of relatively conservative folks (myself) who are discounted as liberals these days. What's needed is a new party in the middle. When that happens, Hispanics and others will vote for them and leave the GOP to stare off the edge of their world.

lol,

Although I hear there are new advances in "fracking" that will allow white people to reproduce faster.

I remember regular jokes about her in my Bloom County comic strips. Why the hell does she believe she's still relevant?

Actually, don't answer that. I really am uninterested in how her mind works.

This is true.  This is why LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act, knowing full well he was handing the South to the Republicans for 30 years.

They don't get citizenship immediately. They're still going to have to wait 10-15 years to get their citizenship, if they get it at all, before they can vote. The GOP can make plenty of inroads into the Hispanic demographic in that time, but not if they keep listening to Phyllis Schlafly.

I have some good news for you. There is a non-insane center-right party that actually has a decent shot of winning elections. It's called the Democratic Party. You should probably look into it and check out the policies that have been advocated by Democratic politicians for the last 20 years.
